Current Affairs of 6th April – National News
1. Soon, fifty food trucks operating around the clock in seven different zones will be available in Mumbai.
◉ At least 50 food trucks will soon be available in Mumbai, operating 24/7 throughout the city’s seven zones.
◉ The seventh zone would be allowed to operate eight food trucks, while each of the six zones can currently run up to seven food trucks.
◉ These mobile kitchens can serve any type of food and are open every day. They would need ward-level monitoring committee clearance as well as permission from the health and fire brigade personnel.
◉ The location for the food truck should ideally be close to a college or high-football area. Within 200 meters of a restaurant, they cannot be placed.
2. The UP government will establish the UP Education Service Selection Committee to appoint teachers.
◉ For the purpose of hiring teachers in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to establish the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission.
◉ Yogi Adityanath, the state’s chief minister, provided the required instructions for the formation of the autonomous commission that will choose teachers for the state’s lower, higher, and technical institutions.
◉ Moreover, the UP Teachers Eligibility Exam (UPTET) will be administered by the new commission.
The head of the new integrated commission will either be the vice chancellor of universities or a senior member of the Indian Administrative Service.
3. Karnataka is ranked first among 18 big states in the India Justice Report 2022.
◉ In terms of giving access to justice, Karnataka tops the list of states and Union Territories, while three other southern states rank among the top five, according to the India Justice Report 2022.
◉ To evaluate the overall effectiveness of each state, the report takes into account a number of factors, including law enforcement, the judiciary, prisons, and legal aid.
◉ The study states that, as of December 2022, the high courts had 778 judges on staff rather than the authorized 1,108.
◉ As opposed to the sanctioned strength of 24,631 judges, the subordinate courts were operating with 19,288 judges.
4. Rice variety Nagri Dubraj from Chhattisgarh receives GI label
◉ Nagari Dubraj, a fragrant rice from Chhattisgarh, has been given a Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the Geographical Indications Registry to give the brand a distinctive identity.
◉ The GI Tag has also been assigned to the Madhya Pradesh fruits Morena and Rewa Mango.
◉ Dubraj is thought to have originated in the Shringi Rishi Ashram region in Sihawa. It is mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana. Some academic articles credit the Sihawa region as Dubraj’s origin.

4. E-scooters will no longer be allowed in Paris
◉ Paris After receiving overwhelming support from city citizens, Mayor Anne Hidalgo promised to outlaw the rental of electric scooters across the French capital.
◉ In a non-binding vote, the freestanding scooters, which can be rented out temporarily using applications, received 89.03% of the 103,084 votes put against them. The only choices were “pro” or “against.”
◉ In 2020, only three companies—Lime, Dott, and Tier—remained with operating permits after the introduction of e-scooters in Paris in 2018.
◉ The city also introduced restrictions like a 20 kph speed limit and dedicated parking spaces for scooters. Anybody who parks a scooter outside of these zones will be fined.
5. On April 10, Kenya will launch its first functioning satellite.
◉ On April 10, 2023, the Kenya Space Agency is scheduled to launch the nation’s first operational earth observation satellite.
◉ Taifa-1, which means “one nation” in Swahili, is slated to launch from the Californian Vandenberg Space Force Base on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
◉ The observation satellite, which was “completely planned and produced” by Kenyan engineers, will be used to collect information on food security and other topics, including agriculture.
◉ In 1998, Egypt became the first nation in Africa to launch a satellite into orbit.

6. RBI maintains the repo rate at 6.5%.
◉ The repo rate would remain at 6.5%, according to a statement from the Central Bank of India (RBI).
◉ After a three-day meeting, the RBI Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) announced the first bimonthly policy for FY24.
◉ Since inflation has been above the RBI’s comfort level of 6% for the majority of the time, many experts predicted the central bank will raise key interest rates by 25 basis points (bps) to 6.75% in order to address the persistently high inflation.
◉ In the current fiscal year, a 6.5% increase in GDP is anticipated.
◉ In FY2023–24, retail inflation is anticipated to moderate to 5.2%.

9. The India-U.S. air exercise “Cope India” will start on April 10.
◉ At the Kalaikunda airbase in West Bengal, the Indian and American air forces will undertake the Cope India exercise from April 10 to April 21, 2023, with Japan serving as an observer.
◉ “Further strengthen operational capabilities and interoperability between the two air forces,” according to the “Cope India” exercise.
◉ Notably, Japan will also participate in the exercise as an “observer,” watching as “air combat and mobility units” operate from a variety of air bases, including Kalaikunda, Panagarh, Agra, and Hindon.

10. Successful test firing of a 3D-printed cryogenic engine by Skyroot Aerospace
◉ A cutting-edge, entirely 3D-printed cryogenic engine, the Dhawan-II, has been successfully fired by India’s premier private aerospace business, Skyroot Aerospace.
◉ The endurance test showed the flexibility of the 3D-printed structure intended to power the company’s Vikram-II rocket, and the engine roared to life for 200 seconds.
◉ The test was carried out utilizing Skyroot’s locally created mobile cryogenic engine test pad at Solar Industries’ propulsion testing facility in Nagpur.
◉ Liquid natural gas (LNG) and liquid oxygen (LoX), two high-performance rocket fuels used by the cryogenic rocket engine, need cryogenic temperatures (below -150° Celsius) for storage and operation. More than 90% of LNG is methane, and LoX is a clean-burning, environmentally benign fuel.

11. Weightlifter Sanjita Chanu was given a four-year drug test suspension.
◉ Sanjita Chanu, an Indian weightlifter who has won two Commonwealth Games medals, has been given a four-year suspension by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for failing a drug test.
◉ Sanjita had tested positive for Drostanolone Metabolite, an anabolic steroid that is forbidden by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
◉ At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Sanjita had won gold in the 48 kg weight class before Mirabai Chanu, who had won silver at the Tokyo Olympics.
She was crowned champion in the 53kg division at the CWG 2018 in Gold Coast.
