1. Gujarat’s Garba gets added to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
◉ The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has listed Gujarat’s ancient dance form, “Garba,” as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
◉ The well-known dancing style is the fifteenth Indian cultural object to be inscribed on the UNESCO list. Two years ago, the Durga Puja in Kolkata was the last to be added.
◉ During its 18th session, which was held in Kasane, Botswana, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage inscribed “Garba of Gujarat” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
◉ Under the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the inclusion has been made.
2. “Gram Manchitra” was introduced by the Panchayati Raj Ministry.
◉ The Geographic Information System (GIS) application “Gram Manchitra” (https://grammanchitra.gov.in) has been released by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
◉ Using geospatial technology, this tool helps and encourages Gram Panchayats to carry out planning at the local level.
◉ It offers a single, cohesive Geospatial platform to enhance the visualization of the diverse developmental initiatives to be undertaken in the various sectors and to serve as a decision-support tool for the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
3. A proposal to rename Firozabad as Chandra Nagar was approved by the UP Municipality.
◉ The idea to rename Firozabad as Chandra Nagar has been approved by the Firozabad Municipal Corporation in Uttar Pradesh.
◉ Firozabad is well-known for producing bracelets. On the east side, it is situated 250 kilometers from the capital city and 40 kilometers from Agra. About 250 miles to the east of here is Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The districts of Tundla and Shikohabad are under the jurisdiction of Firozabad.
◉ Three railway stations in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh—Pratapgarh, Antu, and Bishnathganj—were renamed, as the Indian Railways had previously stated in October.
Railways announced that the stations in Pratapgarh, Antu, and Bishnathganj will now be known as Maa Chandika Devi Dham Antu, Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction, and Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj, respectively.
4. Kenya receives a $250 million line of credit from India for modernizing its agriculture.

5. Kolkata is deemed the safest city in India for the third year in a row: NCRB report
◉ According to a National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, Kolkata has been the safest city in India for three years running. Among metropolises, it has the fewest number of cognizable offenses per lakh people.
◉ With 86.5 incidents of cognizable offenses per lakh population in 2022, the eastern metropolis was followed by Pune (280.7) and Hyderabad (299.2).
◉ Crimes that are filed under specific sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special and Local Laws (SLL) are known as cognizable crimes.
◉ The NCRB study states that the number of cognizable crimes per lakh persons in Kolkata decreased from 103.4 in 2021 to 86.5 this year. The count was 129.5 in 2020.

6. Japan hosted the world’s largest experimental nuclear fusion reactor, JT-60SA, for its opening.
◉ In the Japanese prefecture of Ibaraki, the JT-60SA, the largest and most sophisticated nuclear fusion reactor in the world, began to operate officially.
◉ JT-60SA is a cooperative project between Japan and the European Union.
◉ Reactors for nuclear fusion in experimentation are relatively young. On the other hand, others argue that establishing nuclear fusion as a clean energy source is the solution to humanity’s future energy demands.
◉ Fusion is not the same as fission, which is the method now employed in nuclear power plants. Instead of breaking one atomic nucleus, two are fused during the process.

9. The first female medical officer to be deployed to Siachen is Captain Geetika Koul.
◉ As the first female medical officer in the Indian Army, Captain Geetika Koul has been stationed at Siachen, the highest battlefield on earth.
◉ This accomplishment comes after she completed the demanding introduction training program at the prestigious Siachen Battle School, which covered survival skills, high-altitude acclimatization, and specialist medical treatments.
◉ After completing the induction training at Siachen Battle School, Captain Geetika Koul of the Snow Leopard Brigade became the first female medical officer of the Indian Army to be deployed in Siachen, the highest battlefield in the world.
