Current Affairs of 8th August – National News
1. The BharatNet project receives Cabinet approval for $1.39 billion.
◉ The BharatNet project’s upgrade has received approval from the Union Cabinet in the amount of Rs. 1.39 lakh crore.
◉ Changes to the execution plan will be necessary, with a focus on using village-level entrepreneurs to provide fiber connections to the final mile.
◉ The government hopes to hasten the process of connecting all 640,000 villages within the following two and a half years with this improvement.
◉ The government will now work with village-level businesspeople, known as Udyamis, to provide fiber connections to houses, just like private carriers Airtel and Jio do. The revenue share will be 50/50 for this.
2. 120 Vande Bharat trains will be built by RVNL and a Russian partner
◉ Approximately 120 Vande Bharat trains would be manufactured and supplied to Indian Railways by a joint venture between public sector business Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) and Russian company Metrowagonmash, at a cost of Rs 120 crore for each train.
◉ With 26% going to Metrowagonmash and 5% going to a third partner, Locomotive Electronic Systems, the RVNL requests a greater stake of 69%.
◉ A railway plant in Maharashtra is scheduled to produce blue-and-white AC trains.
3. To reactivate rhino conservation in the Valmiki Tiger Reserve, Bihar forms the “Rhino Task Force.”
◉ In order to suggest solutions to relaunch the rhino conservation strategy in the “Valmiki Tiger Reserve” (VTR), which is located in West Champaran district, the Bihar government will establish a “Rhino Task Force.”
◉ 14 rhinos are currently housed in Patna Zoo, while there is only one rhino in VTR.
◉ State wildlife officials are concentrating on restoring the rhino population in the area as a result of the large growth in the tiger population in the VTR.
◉ The National Rhino Conservation Plan has chosen Valmiki Tiger Reserve as a prospective location.

5. In 13 railway stations, PM Modi introduced the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

In addition, 13 stations are in Karnataka and 15 are in Haryana.
6. 19 new districts and 3 new divisions in Rajasthan have been announced by the government.

◉ N Vittal, an IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre and a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, passed away in Chennai.
