2. India and ADB inked a credit agreement for Madhya Pradesh road improvements.
◉ A USD 175 million loan has been signed by the central government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to enhance Madhya Pradesh’s road resilience and connectivity.
◉ Through this project, the state road network in Madhya Pradesh’s 14 districts will be more connected.
◉ ADB has been funding Madhya Pradesh’s road construction since 2002, improving almost 9,000 kilometers of state highways and significant district roads.

4. Forbes has listed Nirmala Sitharaman and three other Indian women among the “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” of 2023.
◉ Four Indians are among the 100 named in Forbes’ annual list of “The World’s Most Powerful Women of 2023”: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chairperson of HCL Corporation Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of Steel Authority of India Soma Mondal, and Executive Chairperson of Biocon Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.
◉ Sitharaman, who is ranked number 32, has appeared on the list for the fifth consecutive year. The 64-year-old BJP leader has never had a lower ranking than this one; in 2022, she was 36, in 2021, 37, 41, and 34.

6. For Rs 230 crore, SBI would purchase a 20% share in SBI Pension Funds.
◉ The State Bank of India (SBI) has received final approval from the Executive Committee of the Central Board (ECCB) to purchase a 20 percent stake in SBIPFPL (SBI Pension Funds Private Ltd) that was previously held by SBICAPS (SBI Capital Markets Ltd).
◉ According to SBI’s regulatory filing, the transaction would be finalized by December 15, 2023, for a cash consideration of ₹229.52 crore.
◉ SBI’s wholly-owned subsidiary is called SBICAPS.
◉ Following the transaction, SBI will own an 80% share in SBIPFPL, with SBI Funds Management Ltd. holding the remaining 20%. The latter is a partnership between Amundi (36.73 percent) and SBI (62.53 percent).

◉ Born in Aurangabad, Samir Shah, 71, is a former media executive and non-executive director of the BBC. He immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1960.
◉ He will be in charge of the national broadcaster amid concerns about its financial stability and independence as its charter is being renewed.
◉ Former BBC chair Richard Sharp resigned in June after failing to reveal that he had assisted in setting up an £800,000 loan for former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
8. Rajiv Anand has been appointed Chairman of Max Life Insurance.
◉ Rajiv Anand has taken over as Chairman of Max Financial Services’ main subsidiary, Max Life Insurance.
◉ This comes after Analjit Singh resigned as chairman and member of the Max Life Insurance board of directors.
◉ Before this promotion, Axis Bank Ltd. recommended Anand, a non-executive director of Max Life, to be Chairman of Max Life Insurance.
◉ One week after the IRDAI allowed the incorporation of private sector insurance businesses, on July 11, 2000, Max New York Life (MNYL) became the first private sector insurance company in India. MNYL obtained its registration certification from IRDAI on November 15, 2020.

10. Singapore’s Highest Arts Award is given to Indian-origin novelist Meira Chand.
◉ The Cultural Medallion, the nation’s most coveted creative award, was given to three Singaporeans, including writer Meira Chand, 81, of Indian descent, in appreciation of their artistic brilliance and dedication to enhancing the arts and culture of the nation.
◉ President Tharman Shanmugaratnam presented the award to Meira Chand, fellow author Suchen Christine Lim, and seasoned Malay dancer Osman Abdul Hamid during a ceremony at the Istana.
◉ Each recipient of the award will receive a stipend of SGD 80,000 (about Rs 49 lakh) to help with their artistic endeavors.

◉ Shanghai and Hangzhou are not far from Ningbo, which is situated in the eastern coastal province of Zhejiang, China.
