1. To commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of independence, Google created “India Ki Udaan.”
◉ To commemorate India’s 75-year journey toward independence, Google has launched an online project dubbed “India Ki Udaan.”
◉ Google will host an online display of educational materials as part of this effort to highlight India’s contributions and journey over the past 75 years.
◉ At a gathering held in New Delhi, it was introduced by Union Minister of Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy.
2. Inauguration of the Indo-Israel Center of Excellence for Vegetables
◉ As part of the India-Israel Action Plan (IIAP), Israeli experts are contributing to the Center’s technology, and MIDH is sponsoring the Center’s infrastructure development for demonstration purposes.
◉ Centers of Excellence (CoEs) are being built in the US based on Israeli innovations. According to Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, the Central and State Governments are working together on all fronts to enhance agriculture.
3. Nitish Kumar left his position as Bihar’s NDA chief minister.
◉ Nitish Kumar has given state governor Phagu Chauhan notice that he is resigning from the NDA as chief minister of Bihar. Additionally, he put up a letter of support from 160 MLAs to assert his claim to form a new government.
◉ The BJP has 77 lawmakers in the 243-member house, while JD (U) has 45. With 79 MLAs, Congress has 19, and the Left Front, which is led by the CPI(ML), has 17, the RJD is currently the only major party.
◉ Nitish Kumar departed for Patna to meet with Tejashwi Yadav, who is most likely to be appointed deputy chief minister in the new coalition administration, at the home of RDJ founder Lalu Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi.
4. Gandhinagar will host the Defense Expo from October 18 to October 22.
◉ After being postponed in March, the prestigious defence exhibition DefExpo-2022 will now take place from October 18 to 22 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

5. The RBI fined Spandana Sphoorty Financial Ltd. Rs. 2.33 crore.
◉ In response to Spandana Sphoorty Financial Limited’s violation of the price of credit standards for Non-Banking Financial Company – Micro Finance Institutions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) fined the company Rs 2.33 crore (NBFC-MFIs).
◉ In accordance with the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934’s provisions, the RBI has the authority to impose the fine.
6. The RBI levied a fine of Rs. 32 lakh against Indian Bank.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India fined the Indian Bank a total of Rs. 32.00 lakh (Rupees Thirty Two Lakh only) for failing to submit a Flash Report for frauds involving amounts of at least Rs. 5.00 crore (Rupees Five Crore) to the RBI as required by Section 47A(1)(c) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. This was done in accordance with paragraph 3.2.6 of the Reserve Bank of India (Frauds, classification, and reporting).
◉ To avoid this from happening again in the future, the Indian Bank has implemented crucial preventative and thorough steps.
7. SBI’s net profit for the first quarter decreased by 7% to Rs. 6,068 billion.
◉ The biggest lender in the country, State Bank of India (SBI), reported a 7% fall in standalone net profit for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, coming in at Rs 6,068 crore. This was due to a decline in revenue.
◉ The bank reported a net profit of Rs 6,504 crore for the quarter from April to June 2021–2022. According to a regulatory statement from SBI, its standalone total income dropped from Rs 77,347.17 crore in the same period last year to Rs 74,998.57 crore in the first quarter of 2022–23.
