1. Tamil Nadu topped the list of big states in the FSSAI’s 4th State Food Safety Index.
◉ On World Food Safety Day, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled the FSSAI’s 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI), which measures states’ performance across five food safety categories, and congratulated the winning states/UTs based on their ranking for the year 2021-22.
◉ Tamil Nadu was the most populous state in the country. “Goa was foremost among the minor states, followed by Manipur and Sikkim. Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, and Chandigarh took top, second, and third place, respectively, among the UTs.”
2. Assam celebrates the Baikho festival.
◉ The Baikho festival is held in Assam, which is known as the “Gateway to Northeast India.” The Rabha tribes of India commemorate it. Locals in Gamerimura village met on June 4th to commemorate the event in 2022.
◉ The Rabhas are a Tibeto-Burman ethnic group. They live in the Garo Hills of Lower Assam and the Dooar region of West Bengal. They are a Plains tribe living in the state. They are primarily an agricultural community.
3. For the holistic management of beaches in Goa, the ‘Beach Vigil App’ was launched.
◉ Pramod Sawant, Goa’s chief minister, has established a “Beach Vigil App.” The app, according to the CM, is intended to help both institutions operating in the beach tourism sector and vacationers.
◉ The Beach Vigil App attempts to provide a complete approach to beach maintenance. The Goa government is working on finalising an integrated beach cleanup plan. By 2025, the government wants Goa to be one of Asia’s top 25 startup hotspots.

4. QS World University Rankings 2023: IISc, Bengaluru ranked first among research universities worldwide, and MIT ranked first among Indian institutes.
◉ The 19th edition of the world’s most consulted worldwide university ranking has been announced by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a London-based global higher education firm.
◉ In total, 41 Indian universities have been ranked. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru (155th) was ranked first among Indian universities in the QS World University Rankings, followed by IIT Bombay (172nd) and IIT Delhi (200th) (174th).

5. Punjab & Sind Bank was fined Rs 27.50 lakh by the Reserve Bank of India.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India has fined Punjab & Sind Bank Rs 27.5 lakh for failing to comply with specific Reserve Bank of India directives on ‘external benchmark-based lending.’
◉ A statutory inspection of Punjab & Sind Bank discovered non-compliance with the guidelines, including the bank’s use of MCLR instead of an external benchmark to link some floating rate retail loans and floating rate loans to micro and small businesses extended after October 1, 2019.
6. SEBI’s Mutual Funds Advisory Committee, chaired by Usha Thorat, has been reformed.
◉ The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), India’s market regulator, has revamped its mutual fund advisory council.
◉ Usha Thorat, a former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), will chair the 25-member advisory body. Previously, the panel consisted of 24 people.
◉ Neeraj Choksi, Chairman of NJ India Invest, has been appointed to the advisory council by the regulator.
7. Tech Mahindra paid Rs 1.60 crore for a 26% stake in Huoban Energy.
◉ Tech Mahindra has purchased a 26% interest in Huoban Energy 6 Private Ltd, a newly formed renewable energy company.
◉ It would pay Rs 1.60 crore in total for the purchase. The transaction is expected to take 90 days to complete.
◉ The acquisition will allow the corporation to purchase 5 MW of solar energy for captive consumption at its Pune, Maharashtra facilities.

◉ The firm from Chennai has revealed its intention to promote agriculture. The company is developing a concept for selling drones to village entrepreneurs or pesticide and fertiliser distributors.

Krishna Srinivasan named Director of the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department International Monetary Fund ◉ ◉ ◉ Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva announced the nomination of Krishna Srinivasan, an Indian national, to the position of Director of the Asia and Pacific Department (APD). Changyong Rhee will be succeeded by Srinivasan.
◉ He is currently a Deputy Director of APD, where he is in charge of the department’s surveillance operations in a number of large and systemically significant countries, such as China and Korea, as well as smaller Pacific governments like Fiji and Vanuatu.

10. Mithali Raj has declared her retirement from international cricket in all formats.
◉ Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, has announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket at the age of 39.

11. At the 2022 Para Shooting World Cup in France, Avani Lekhara won gold.
◉ Avani Lekhara, a Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist, has qualified for the 2024 Paris Paralympics after capturing gold in the Para Shooting World Cup in women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 in France.
◉ The 20-year-old broke her own world record of 249.6 to win gold with a score of 250.6. Emilia Babska of Poland won silver with a score of 247.6, while Sweden’s Anna Normann took bronze with a score of 225.6.

◉ The International Institute of Sports & Management (IISM) in Mumbai, Maharashtra, has released India’s first-ever book on Sports Marketing, titled “Business of Sports: The Winning Formula for Success,” written by acclaimed sports author Vinit Karnik.
