1. ISRO will launch an online training curriculum for graduate and undergraduate final-year students.
◉ Space Science and Technology Awareness Training (START), a new introductory-level online training program, has been introduced by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
◉ Physical science and technology graduate and final-year undergraduate students are the target audience for START.
◉ The program will address a range of space science topics, such as astronomy and astrophysics, heliophysics and the relationship between the sun and the earth, instrumentation, and aeronautics.
Scientists from Indian academic institutions and ISRO centers will present it.
2. Telangana inaugurates the Centre for Innovation, Incubation, Research, and Entrepreneurship.
◉ At the KITS Warangal campus in Telangana, the Centre for Innovation, Incubation, Research, and ◉ Entrepreneurship was officially opened. K Taraka Ramarao, the IT minister for Telangana, gave it is official opening.
◉ In order to foster research and inventive abilities among students, staff, and young researchers, the Centre will promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the student community.
The requisite infrastructure facilities have received an investment of more than five crore rupees.
3. By 2027, a commission of the oil ministry wants to outlaw four-wheeled diesel automobiles.
◉ By 2027, diesel-powered four-wheelers might be outlawed.
◉ In order to reduce emissions, a group appointed by the oil ministry has advised the Indian government to outlaw the use of four-wheeled diesel vehicles by the year 2027 and replace them with petrol and electric vehicles in densely populated cities and polluted towns.
◉ No additional city buses that are not electric should exist by 2030. Beginning in 2024, no new diesel buses should be installed for city transit.
◉ An Energy Transition Advisory Committee has been established by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Tarun Kapoor, a former oil secretary, is its chair.
4. Inauguration of the Border Haat between India and Bangladesh in Bholaganj, Sylhet
◉ In Bholaganj, part of Sylhet’s Companiganj upazila, a new Border-Haat between India and Bangladesh was opened.
◉ Imran Ahmed, the minister of Bangladesh responsible for expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment, and Niraj Kumar Jaiswal, the assistant high commissioner of India, jointly opened the Border-Haat.
◉ There are now three operational Border Haats in the Sylhet division, making this the fourth. In the Sylhet division, three new Border Haats will open.
◉ The Border Haat will be open from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
5. After J-K, other lithium resources were found in Rajasthan.
◉ Lithium reserves have also been discovered in Rajasthan’s Degana area, following those found in Jammu and Kashmir.
◉ Lithium deposits are greater than those recently discovered in Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials.
◉ Additionally, officials have stated that the available lithium can satisfy about 80% of India’s demand. Lithium reserves were discovered for the first time at Reasi, Jammu & Kashmir, in February 2023.
◉ Only a minor reserve of minerals had previously been found in Karnataka, making this the first important mineral found in India. The discovery is credited to the mines ministry’s renewed emphasis on rare earth.
6. Hyderabad’s Hare Krishna Heritage Tower is inaugurated by Telangana’s chief minister.
◉ The Hare Krishna Heritage Tower in Hyderabad had its foundations established by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
◉ At a cost of Rs 200 crore, a 400-foot (120-meter) tall building would be erected in Narsingi on a plot of ground measuring six acres.
◉ The temples of Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Sri Sri Radha Krishna will be located in the tower.
◉ On behalf of the state government, the chief minister announced Rs 25 crore for the building of the temple.
7. Organization of a capacity-building program in Mussoorie
◉ The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) is hosting a capacity-building program in Uttarakhand for government employees from the Maldives and Bangladesh at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
◉ This training course will run through May 19th.
◉ This curriculum includes 45 administrative trainees from Bangladesh and 50 administrative trainees from the Maldives.
