1. Gujarat has unveiled a new IT/ITeS policy aimed at creating 1 lakh jobs.

  • Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, has launched a new five-year IT/ITeS policy.
  • The IT/ITeS strategy will offer financial incentives of up to Rs 200 crore to companies willing to invest in technology. It will also employ roughly 1 lakh young people.

2. UNEP and Maharashtra have struck an agreement to assist the ‘Majhi Vasundhara’ campaign.

  • The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Maharashtra government have inked an agreement to promote the Maharashtra government’s ‘Majhi Vasundhara’ campaign.
  • It is a project aimed at promoting energy efficiency and environmental development. ‘My Earth’ is the precise translation of ‘Majhi Vasundhara.’ It is a Maharashtra government effort led by the Department of Environment and Climate Change.

3. Under the SAMRIDH programme, AIM, NITI Aayog, and USAID have launched cooperation.

  • The Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare (SAMRIDH) programme has announced a new partnership between the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
  • It would increase vulnerable populations’ access to inexpensive and high-quality healthcare in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, as well as rural and tribal areas.

4. To combat human trafficking, the RPF initiated “Operation AAHT.”

  • A nationwide operation to combat human trafficking has been begun by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
  • Special teams will be deployed on all long-distance trains/routes as part of “Operation AAHT,” with an emphasis on rescuing victims, particularly women and children, from traffickers’ hands.

  • He has risen to the tenth richest person on the planet after an almost $12 billion increase in his personal wealth.

6. L&T and Microsoft India have inked a memorandum of understanding to establish a regulated sector-focused cloud product.

  • Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) and Microsoft India have agreed to collaborate on the development of a regulated sector-focused cloud product that would provide customers with best-of-breed cloud computing and infrastructure services.
  • The goal is to transition traditional data centres to a hybrid cloud architecture.

7. With a budget of Rs 4,600 crores, the PMKSY scheme has been extended through FY26.

  • The Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), the Ministry of Food Processing Industries’ flagship scheme, has been extended from 2021-2022 to 2025-2026. (till March 2026).
  • The Indian government has set aside Rs 4600 crores for the project. With a budget of Rs 6000 crore, the Government of India established the Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters (SAMPADA) in 2017.

8. Since its start in FY 2020-21, the PM CARES Fund has received a total of Rs 10,990 crores and has spent Rs 3,976 crores.

  • According to the latest audited account of PM CARES Funds, the overall corpus of the fund in 2020-21 was Rs 10,990.17 crore, with Rs 3,976.17 crore spent from the fund.
  • The Fund had an unspent balance of Rs 7,013.99 crore as of March 31, 2021. A portion of the funds were utilised to purchase medical equipment, such as ventilators, to aid in the fight against COVID-19, as well as to provide relief to migrants.

9. With a budget of Rs. 1700 crores, the Cabinet approved the continuation of the IFLDP.

  • The Indian Footwear and Leather Development Programme (IFLDP), formerly known as IFLADP, was authorised by the Union Cabinet for continuation from 2021-22 with a cash outlay of Rs. 1700 crores till 31st March 2026 or until further review, whichever comes first.
  • Aim: To build infrastructure for the leather industry, address environmental challenges unique to the industry, and encourage more investments, job creation, and production growth.

10. The Reserve Bank of India has prolonged restrictions on Millath Co-Operative Bank in Karnataka until May 7.

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has prolonged the limitations on Millath Co-Operative Bank in Devangere, Karnataka, by three months, from February 8 to May 7, 2022.
  • The RBI claims that the guidelines’ other terms and conditions will remain unchanged throughout the latest three-month extension.

11. According to the Crisil Report, LIC, the world’s third strongest and tenth most valuable insurance brand, has the highest Return on Equity (RoE) at 82 percent.

  • According to a CRISIL report, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), India’s largest IPO-bound national insurer and the world’s third-strongest insurance brand, has the highest Return on Equity (RoE) of all its global peers at 82 percent.
  • LIC is India’s strongest and largest brand, according to a brand value analysis by London-based Brand Finance, with a worth of $8.656 billion (around Rs 64,722 crore).

15. R Rajamohan, an astronomer who led the first asteroid discoveries in independent India, died.

  • Professor R Rajamohan died after a long career as an astronomer at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) in Bengaluru.
  • He is well known for the Kalki Project, which used the 48-cm Schmidt telescope in Kavalur VBO to discover asteroids and discovered a new asteroid, number 4130, from India. This is India’s first asteroid discovery in 104 years.
