1. In Ladakh, the Spituk Gustor Festival is held.
- Spituk Gustor Festival, a two-day yearly celebration of Ladakhi culture and traditional heritage, will be held in Leh and the Ladakh Union Territory on the 30th and 31st of January 2022.
- The Geluk Pa Order of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Je Tsongkhapa (1357-1419), is honoured on the same day, with an annual winter festival aimed at strengthening brotherhood and friendliness among believers.
2. The first geological park in India will be created in Lamheta, Madhya Pradesh.
- The Geological Survey of India (GSI), under the Ministry of Mines, has approved the establishment of India’s first geological park at Lamheta village in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on the banks of the Narmada River.
- The GSI has approved a budget of Rs. 1.30 crore for the establishment of a Geopark on 5 acres of land in Lamheta hamlet, which is 20 kilometres from the Jabalpur district headquarters.
3. The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer revealed ‘Shera,’ the state’s election mascot.
- Punjab’s election mascot, “Shera,” was unveiled by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (Lion).
- Its goal is to raise voter knowledge, engagement, and ethical voting in the Punjab Assembly elections on February 20, 2022. Shera, the team’s mascot, is a lion. It is a symbol of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.
4. Smruthi Vanam, Gandhi Mandiram, Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh
- At the Municipal Park in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, social activists created a temple for Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters’ Smrithi Vanam.
- The goal is to instil patriotism in young people by recalling the sacrifices made by liberation warriors.

5. The 11th Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) between India and Oman met in New Delhi.
- Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and Mohammed Bin Nasser Bin Ali AL Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense of Oman, co-chaired the meeting.

6. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Minister of Finance, delivered the Union Budget for 2022-23.
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her fourth Budget to Parliament on February 1, 2022.
- The finance minister proposed a plan for the RBI to introduce a digital currency and the establishment of a Digital University, emphasising the importance of a digital-first approach.
7. In January 2022, the government collected Rs 1.38 lakh crores in GST.
- For the fourth time in GST history, monthly GST collections in January 2022 exceeded Rs 1.30 lakh crore.
- The total revenues for January 2022 were Rs 1,38,394 crore as of 3 p.m. on 31 January 2022. The GST revenues in January 2022 were 15% higher than the same month last year and 25% higher than the GST revenues in January 2020.
8. SBI, BoB, and HDFC Bank were chosen by the Tata Group to finance Air India’s old debt.
- State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and HDFC Bank have been picked as Air India’s preferred bankers by the Tata Group.
- The government recently sold Air India to the Tata Group. With an 18.6% market share, Air India is the largest foreign carrier operating out of India.

9. Magnus Carlsen was the winner of the Tata Steel Masters chess tournament in 2022.
- No. 1 in the world Magnus Carlsen defeated Fabiano Caruana to win the Tata Steel Masters chess 2022.
- In the tournament’s 12th and penultimate round, Indian Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi was defeated by Azerbaijan’s Shakhriyar Mamedyarov.
10. Chennai Super Kings became the first unicorn sports franchise in India.
- Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has become the country’s first sports unicorn, with a market share of Rs 7,600 crores and a share price range of Rs 210-225 on the grey market.
- CSK has won the Indian Premier League four times (IPL) Last year in Dubai, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) overcame the legendary Kolkata Knight Riders to capture their record-extending fourth IPL title.

11. PR Sreejesh earned the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year 2021 Award for India hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh.
- He was only the second Indian to get the award, and he was the first Indian man to do so. Rani Rampal, the Indian women’s hockey captain, became the first Indian to receive the award in 2020.

13. Rupinder Singh is a senior counsel and the Additional Solicitor General. Suri had died.
- Rupinder Singh Suri, a senior counsel and Additional Solicitor General (ASG), died. In June 2020, Suri was named the ASG.
- In 2009, Suri was named a senior advocate, and he also served as President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association.

14. The 46th Raising Day of the Indian Coast Guard will take place on February 1, 2022.
- On February 1, 2022, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) celebrated its 46th Raising Day. The ICG, the world’s fourth-largest coast guard, has saved over 10,000 lives since its inception in 1977.
- In 1978, the Indian Coast Guard was established with only seven surface platforms. Since then, the organization’s inventory has grown to 156 ships and 62 planes.
