1. Odisha received financial support from NABARD in the amount of Rs. 4,013 crores.
◉ The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved financial assistance to Odisha in the amount of Rs. 4,013 crores under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for the fiscal year 2021-2022, giving the state the largest share of NABARD’s infrastructure funds in India.
◉ Since the start of the RIDF, Odisha has received a total sanction of Rs 32,100 crore. Agriculture and related sectors, social sector, and rural connectivity are the three broad categories of the RIDF.
2. Gujarat ranked first in the NITI Aayog’s 2021 Export Preparedness Index.
◉ Gujarat has kept its top spot in the NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2021, with Maharashtra and Karnataka coming in second and third, respectively.
◉ The Export Preparedness Index assesses a country’s export readiness in terms of potential and performance. The NITI Aayog and the Institute of Competitiveness created the Export Preparedness Index.
3. Visakhapatnam hosted the 73rd Indian Psychiatric Society national congress.
◉ From the 24th to the 26th of March, the 73rd Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS) was held in Visakhapatnam.
◉ The three-day conference is being held at Vizag Conventions in Madhurawada and is attracting experts from all around India as well as a few from beyond. The previous national conference was conducted in Visakhapatnam 37 years ago.

4. To rescue Africa’s black rhinos, the World Bank issued the first wildlife conservation bond.
◉ The Wildlife Conservation Bond (WCB) was granted by the World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, IBRD) to help South Africa’s efforts to save endangered Black Rhino species.
◉ The “Rhino Bond” is another name for the Wildlife Conservation Bond (WCB). It’s a $150 million Sustainable Development Bond with a five-year maturity. It contains the possibility of a reward from the Global Environment Facility for performance (GEF).

5. The Reserve Bank of India established the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub in Bengaluru, with Kris Gopalakrishnan as its first Chairman.
◉ The Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) in Bengaluru, which was established with a Rs 100 crore initial capital investment to stimulate and develop financial innovation, was opened by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
◉ According to the central bank, the Hub is governed by an independent Board, which is chaired by Senapathy (Kris) Gopalakrishnan and includes members from business and academia.
4. India’s GDP growth is expected to be 4.6 percent in 2022, according to UNCTAD.
◉ According to a recent UN report, India’s predicted economic growth for 2022 has been reduced by more than 2% to 4.6 percent, owing to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
◉ The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has cut its global economic growth forecast for 2022 to 2.6 percent from 3.6 percent due to disruptions from the Ukraine crisis and changes in macroeconomic policies that put developing countries in particular at risk.
5. Neo bank was acquired by Ola.
◉ Obtain Funding Ola, an Indian ride-hailing company has agreed to buy Avail Finance, a neo-banking platform, to extend its financial services offering.
◉ Ola, which owns a 9% stake in Avail Finance, did not disclose the financial specifics of the agreement. Ola plans to employ Avail Finance’s product portfolio to expand its lending operations and achieve its neo-banking objectives.

6. Vinod G Khandare has been appointed as a Defence Adviser.
◉ Lieutenant General Vinod G. Khandare has been named Adviser at the Ministry of Defence, where he will provide strategic insights and advice to the Defence Secretary on topics relating to defense policy.
◉ He will work closely with the Secretary of Defense, according to defense officials. The mission of the position would be to provide strategic input and advice on subjects relating to defense strategy, readiness, and related operations such as the International Defense Corporation, maritime security, and defense space.
7. Hisashi Takeuchi has been nominated MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2022.
◉ Takeuchi will take over as MD and CEO of Kenichi Ayukawa. Ayukawa will now serve as Executive Vice-Chairman for a six-month period, beginning April 1, 2022, and ending September 30, 2022. In 2013, Ayukawa was hired as MD, MSIL.
8. The term of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has been extended until 2023.

13. Stephen Wilhite, the creator of the GIF format, died.
◉ Stephen Wilhite, the inventor of the Graphics Interchange Format (GIF), died at the age of 74 from complications connected to Covid-19.
◉ While working at Compuserve in 1987, Wilhite created the Graphics Interchange Format or GIF. GIF was named the word of the year by the Oxford American Dictionary in 2012. In 2013, he received the Webby Lifetime Achievement Award.
