1. Khelo India University Games 2021 Union logo, mascot jersey, and anthem are unveiled by Anurag Thakur.
◉ On April 1, 2022, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur and Governor of Karnataka TC Gehlot unveiled the Khelo India University Games 2021 (KIUG 2021) logo, uniform, mascot, and anthem.
◉ Chandan Shetty, a Kannada rapper, composed the theme song. Between April 24 and May 3, 2022, the KIUG 2021 will be held in Karnataka. KIUG will be held for the second time.
2. UP overtakes West Bengal as the biggest vegetable producer, but AP maintains its dominance in the fruit sector.
◉ According to statistics presented in the Lok Sabha, vegetable production in Uttar Pradesh is predicted to be 29.58 million tonnes (mt) in the 2021-22 crop year (July-June), down from 29.16 mt the previous year, while West Bengal output is expected to dip to 28.23 mt from 30.33 mt. The gap in vegetable output between Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal in 2018-19 was around 0.7 million tonnes.
◉ According to statistics, Madhya Pradesh, with 2.59 mt, Bihar, with 17.77 mt, and Maharashtra, with 16.78 mt, are the other main producers of vegetables this year.

3. In China, the world’s largest electric cruise ship had her first journey.
◉ The world’s largest electric cruise ship has returned to dock in Yichang, Hubei Province, China, after completing its maiden voyage up and down the Yangtze River.
◉ This cruise ship is powered by a large marine battery with a capacity of 7,500 kilowatt-hours. Contemporary Amperex Technology, the world’s largest battery manufacturer for electric vehicles, offered this battery.
4. The Philippines and the United States have begun a large-scale military exercise called Balikatan.
◉ From March 28 to April 8, 2022, the Balikatan 2022 exercise will take place across Luzon in the Philippines region near Taiwan.
◉ The military drill involves some 8,900 Filipino and American troops, making it the largest Balikatan military exercise ever.

5. Citibank’s India consumer business is being acquired by Axis Bank for Rs 12,325 crores.
◉ Axis Bank will acquire Citibank’s India consumer division for USD 1.6 billion (Rs 12,325 crores) in an all-cash deal, according to Citigroup. Citibank India’s consumer banking businesses, including retail banking, credit cards, consumer loans, and wealth management, will be included in this transaction.
◉ Citicorp Finance (India) Limited, Citibank’s non-banking financial company consumer business, will be sold as part of this transaction. Citicorp Finance (India) Limited consists of an asset-backed financing business that includes construction equipment and commercial vehicle loans, as well as a portfolio of personal loans.
6. Kwik.ID and the Central Bank of India have partnered to streamline client onboarding.
◉ This relationship will assist the bank in advancing its digital transformation plan and supporting government-led digital finance initiatives.
◉ The lender hopes to digitize 10 million customers’ onboarding and streamline their end-to-end procedures with Kwik.ID, an AI-based video KYC solution.
7. The Reserve Bank of India has extended the deadline for banks to deploy lockable cassettes in ATMs by a year.

8. The Centre has prolonged its foreign trade policy till September 30.
◉ The 2015-20 Foreign Trade Policy has been extended for another six months, till September 30, 2022. According to a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, the current Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20, which is in effect through March 31, 2022, has been extended until September 30, 2022.
◉ Following the Covid-19 outbreak, the policy was first extended for a year, until March 31, 2020, and then again until September 30, 2020.
9. Manipur’s government has signed an agreement with Samsung and Abhitech to establish a sports digital experience center in Imphal.
◉ With the establishment of the Digital Experience Centre, numerous achievements of Manipur Olympians will be digitally presented, bringing their achievements to the attention of the general public. At the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, other players’ accomplishments will be displayed as well.

10. NABH ice chairperson Mahesh Verma has been named. – Mahesh Verma, the new chairperson of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, is the Chancellor of Indraprastha University (NABH).
◉ NABH is a Quality Council of India constituent board (QCI). This organization is in charge of establishing quality standards and certifying hospitals and other health care institutions. NABH is also a member of the Asian Society for Quality in Healthcare’s board of directors (ASQua).
11. Dr. S Raju has been appointed Director-General of the Geological Survey of India.
◉ With effect from April 1, 2022, Dr. S Raju has been named Director-General of the Geological Survey of India (GSI). R. S. Garkhal, who retired on March 31, 2022, is his successor. Dr. Raju was previously the Additional Director General and National Head, Missions III and IV at GSI Headquarters.
◉ In 1988, Dr. S. Raju joined the Geological Survey of India. He was involved in the geological mapping of the Bundelkhand Granitic Complex in Uttar Pradesh early in his career, as well as an inquiry into gold mineralization and a geo-environmental appraisal of the Jhansi district in the Bundelkhand Region of Uttar Pradesh.

12. The 83rd National Table Tennis Championship will be held in Meghalaya in 2022.
◉ From April 18 to 25, Meghalaya will host the 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022, which will be held at the SAI Indoor Training Centre, NEHU in Shillong. This is the second time the world’s largest table tennis tournament has been held in the Northeast.
◉ Around 650 people are expected to attend, with 450 of them being athletes and the remainder being coaches and support personnel, according to the State. He went on to explain that a number of executives from various states, including Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister, are expected to visit the state.
