1. I Sea PONDY-2022, Puducherry’s first-ever Beach Festival, was inaugurated.
◉ In the presence of Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the Puducherry’s first-ever Beach Festival, dubbed I Sea PONDY-2022.
◉ Gandhi Beach, Pondy Marina, and Sandunes of Paradise Beach in Puducherry will host the four-day festival.
2. In Nagpur, India’s first Internet radio station for the visually impaired, “Radio Aksh,” was founded.
◉ In Nagpur, Maharashtra, India’s first-ever radio channel for the visually impaired, dubbed ‘Radio Aksh,’ was inaugurated.
◉ The Blind Relief Association Nagpur (TBRAN), a 96-year-old organization, and Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Avam Anusandhan Mandal (Saksham) are the organizations behind this concept. The channel will be available for free on a variety of internet radio platforms.

◉ According to a World Bank analysis, India’s poverty rate is 12.3 percent lower in 2019 than it was in 2011. From 22.5 percent in 2011 to 10.2 percent in 2019, the poverty headcount rate has decreased.
◉ Rural India had a higher rate of poverty depletion than urban India. Between 2011 and 2019, the rate of rural poverty fell by 14.7 percent, while the rate of urban poverty fell by 7.9 percent. Farmers with small landholdings have seen stronger income growth.

4. PhonePe has teamed up with Extreme IX to offer speedier digital payment options.
◉ PhonePe has teamed with Extreme IX, an internet exchange point, to provide speedier digital payments to over 370 million PhonePe users.
◉ This cooperation enables PhonePe to reduce latency for its users in India, regardless of their location or ISP.
5. Inflation based on the WPI increased to 14.55 percent in March.
◉ Due to an increase in electricity prices and rising edible oil prices, India’s wholesale price index (WPI) based inflation surged to 14.55 percent in March.
◉ The WPI-based inflation rate was 7.89 percent in March 2021. Due to a disruption in the global supply chain induced by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a high rate of inflation was recorded in March 2022 due to a surge in prices of mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, and basic metals.

6. Sourav Ganguly has been named as the brand ambassador for Lloyd’s of London’s eastern Indian markets.
◉ Former Indian cricket captain and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly have been appointed as the brand ambassador for Eastern Indian markets by Havells India’s consumer durables brand, Lloyd.
◉ Through promotion, advertising, and marketing, Sourav will promote the Lloyd line of consumer durables. Sourav has been cast as Lloyd because he embodies a rare combination of talent, class, intelligence, and appeal, as well as complementing the brand’s tradition and ethos.
7. Karnataka’s Brain Health Initiative has nominated Robin Uthappa as an ambassador.
◉ The Karnataka government has named Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa as the ambassador for the Karnataka Health Department’s Brain Health Initiative.

◉ Stefanos Tsitsipas, a Greek tennis player, defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 7-6 (3) to regain the Monte-Carlo Masters title. It was his eighth ATP championship.
◉ He became the sixth player in the Open era to win back-to-back Monte Carlo Masters. Since Rafael Nadal in 2018, he became the first repeat champion at the Monte Carlo Masters.
10. At the Danish Open, Sajan Prakash won gold in the men’s 200m butterfly.
◉ At the Danish Open swimming in Copenhagen, Denmark, Sajan Prakash won gold in the men’s 200m butterfly while Vedaant Madhavan took silver in the men’s 1500m freestyle.
◉ Prakash paused the clock at 1.59.27 to take the stage. He became the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the Olympics in Italy with a ‘A’ mark (2021).
