1. Palli Village is India’s first carbon-neutral panchayat. J&K
◉ In the inconspicuous hamlet of Palli in Jammu and Kashmir’s border area of Samba, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a 500 KV solar plant to the nation, making it the country’s first ‘carbon neutral panchayat.’
◉ According to the Prime Minister, Palli has paved the path for the rest of the country by becoming carbon neutral.
◉ Residents of Palli have helped with the project. They’ve also provided food for the project’s workers.
2. Jamtara in Jharkhand became the country’s first district to have a library in every hamlet.
◉ Jamtara in Jharkhand is now the only district in the country with community libraries in every gramme panchayat.
