1. The ‘Miyan ka Bada’ Railway Station in Rajasthan has been renamed ‘Mahesh Nagar Halt.’
◉ The railway station of Miyan Ka Bada in Rajasthan’s Barmer district has been renamed “Mahesh Nagar Halt.”
◉ People in Rajasthan’s Mian Ka Bada have demanded that the village’s name be changed since independence, claiming that the village’s original name was Mahesh Ro Bado.
2. The state of Chhattisgarh has launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojana,’ which would provide 100 public services to people’s homes.
◉ Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the commencement of the ‘Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojana’ (Mitaan means friend), which will be implemented in 14 municipal corporations across the state, including Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, and Rajnandgaon.
◉ Residents of Chhattisgarh can take advantage of over 100 public services at their doorstep under the scheme.
◉ In the first phase, the CM announced in his budget speech for the fiscal year 2022-23 that 13 services in 14 municipal corporation areas would be covered by the ‘Mitaan’ scheme.

3. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the United Arab Emirates went into effect.
◉ The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) comes into force on February 18, 2022.
◉ The first consignment of commodities from India to the UAE has been flagged off by BVR Subrahmanyam (Secretary, Department of Commerce).
◉ Within five years, the deal is expected to increase the overall value of bilateral goods and services trade to over US$100 billion and US$15 billion, respectively.

4. Fidypay and Yes Bank teamed up to promote financial inclusion.
◉ Yes, Bank has partnered with FidyPay, a financial technology API platform, to provide customers with a seamless connected banking experience.
◉ This project will provide access to digital services to a wide spectrum of enterprises, including SMEs, Fintechs, and start-ups.
◉ FidyPay will also provide Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services as a solution provider.
5. The United Nations – Supported Principles for Responsible Investment were signed by HDFC Life.
◉ HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited (HDFC Life) recently signed the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), demonstrating its commitment to long-term value creation and growth.

6. Insurance companies were authorized to invest up to 30% of their assets in the BFSI industry under the IRDAI.
◉ In exercise of its powers conferred under Regulation 14 (2) of the IRDAI (Investment) Regulations, 2016, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has increased the investment limit of all insurance companies to invest in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) companies (as per section K of NIC classification) to 30 percent of investment assets from 25 percent.
◉ This increase in the limit will increase insurance companies’ exposure in this sector. This announcement comes only days before the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) launches its Rs 21,000 crore IPO (Initial Public Offering), the country’s largest. It has the potential to boost the insurer’s involvement in the IPO.

7. Sangeeta Singh has been named Chairman of the CBDT.
◉ With effect from May 02, 2022, Sangeeta Singh, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official from the 1986 batch, has been appointed as Chairman, of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
◉ Sangeeta Singh shall fulfill the duties and responsibilities of Chairperson, CBDT, in addition to her own duties, for a period of three months or until a regular Chairman is appointed, whichever comes first, according to an order issued by the Union Finance Ministry.

8. Defender Europe 2022 (DE22) and Swift Response 2022 (SR22), two NATO exercises, kicked off in Poland and eight other countries on May 1, 2022, with the goal of improving preparedness and interoperability between US and NATO allies and partners.
◉ The drills will take place between May 1 and May 27, 2022. Exercise Swift Response is an annual multinational training exercise for the US Army in Europe and Africa that will take place this year in Eastern Europe, the Arctic High North, the Baltics, and the Balkans.
9. INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, will be handed over to the Indian navy.
◉ Indian Navy Ship (INS) Vikrant, India’s First Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC), will be delivered to the Indian Navy in May 2022 and commissioned on August 15, 2022.
◉ Cochin Shipyard Limited designed and built the IAC (CSL). The aircraft will be launched from the carrier using ski-jump technology. It is estimated to cost roughly Rs 23,000 crore.
