1. The third advance estimate for major crop production in 2021-22 has been announced.
◉ The third advance estimate of major agricultural crop production for 2021-22 was announced by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
◉ The country’s foodgrain production has been estimated at 314.51 million tonnes, a new high that is 3.77 million tonnes greater than the food grain production in 2020-21.
2. The New Development Bank of the BRIC countries has created a regional office in Gujarat’s GIFT City.
◉ The BRICS countries’ multilateral bank, the New Development Bank (NDB), will open its first regional office in India at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) to meet the country’s infrastructure and sustainable development needs.
◉ By designing, implementing, and monitoring new projects, the India office will expand its footprint in the country.
3. The order of the J&K Delimitation Commission takes effect.
◉ After the Central government issued a notification in this regard, the order of the Jammu and Kashmir delimitation commission on electoral segments in the Union Territory became effective.

4. The “world’s highest weather station” has been constructed on Mount Everest at a height of 8,830 meters to automatically measure various climatic occurrences, according to the National Geographic Society.
◉ The autonomous weather station was built a few meters below the top point last week, according to Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), because the snow and ice on the summit make it difficult to fix equipment.
5. The World Bank announced a USD 30 billion food security fund.
◉ The World Bank has announced activities as part of a comprehensive, global response to the ongoing food security issue, including up to $30 billion in funding for existing and new initiatives.
◉ Over the following 15 months, funding will be provided in sectors such as nutrition, agriculture, water, social protection, and irrigation in order to combat global food insecurity.

6. For FY22, the RBI authorized a dividend payment to the government of Rs 30,307 crores.
◉ For the fiscal year 2021-22, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board has recommended a dividend payment to the Centre of Rs 30,307 crores.
◉ The central board of directors of the bank has also resolved to keep the contingency risk buffer (CRB) at 5.50 percent. CRB stands for contingency reserve bank, and it is a type of risk provisioning made from economic capital to cover monetary, credit, fiscal stability, and operational risks.
7. RBL Bank and Amazon Pay have partnered to offer UPI payment services.
◉ RBL Bank has partnered with Amazon Pay and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer UPI payments, including peer-to-peer and peer-to-merchant transactions.
◉ The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) would award RBL Bank a UPI ID with the handle @rapl, resulting in a streamlined payments experience using RBL Bank’s cloud-based processing infrastructure.

8. Salil Parekh re-appointed as MD & CEO of Infosys
◉ IT behemoth Infosys announced that its Board of Directors has reappointed Salil S. Parekh as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of the Company, effective July 1, 2022, for a five-year term ending March 31, 2027, subject to shareholder approval.
◉ Since January 2018, Salil Parekh has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys and has led the company successfully for the past four years.
9. Aruna Singh has been appointed as the new CEO of RCIL.
◉ Aruna Singh, who is currently serving on the Railway Board as an Additional Member (Telecom), has been named Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RCIL).
◉ Singh was an Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers officer from the 1985 class (IRSSE). She began her career in the Northern Railway zone and has held numerous prominent positions in Indian Railways’ various zones and wings.

10. The indigenously designed Naval Anti-Ship Missile was successfully test-fired by DRDO and the Indian Navy.
◉ It is the Indian Navy’s first indigenous air-launched anti-ship missile weapon. The missile was fired from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, by a Seaking 42B helicopter.

11. The Railway Ministry has authorized an Rs. 8.34 crore Hyperloop technology collaboration project with IIT Madras.
◉ The Ministry of Railways and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras have collaborated on a Hyperloop Technology project of Rs 8.34 crore, which proposes a high-speed transit system.
◉ Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, approved the proposal at IIT-M.
