1. Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled ‘Polyversity,’ India’s largest educational metaverse, as well as the Bharat Blockchain Network.
◉ Information Data Systems (IDS), a Michigan-based IT services and consulting firm, has launched the Bharat Blockchain Network (BBN) (Academic Blockchain Consortium) and Polyversity (Educational Metaverse).
◉ At an event conducted at the AICTE Auditorium in New Delhi, Delhi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), inaugurated the initiatives in the presence of officials from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

2. India will host a special summit of ASEAN Foreign Ministers.
◉ On the 16th and 17th of June, India will host the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (SAIFMM) to commemorate the 10-nation grouping’s 30th anniversary of cooperation.
◉ It will be India’s first gathering in New Delhi, and it will be accompanied by the 12th edition of the Delhi Dialogue.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and ASEAN Ministers will attend. The meeting will be co-chaired by S Jaishankar and his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan.
According to the UNCTAD’s World Investment Report, India ranked 7th among FDI beneficiaries in fiscal year 2021; the United States ranked first.
3. According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, India moved one position to seventh among the top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the past calendar year (2021), despite FDI inflows falling (UNCTAD).
◉ According to UNCTAD’s latest World Investment Report, FDI inflows into India fell to $45 billion in 2021 from $64 billion the year before. In 2021, India’s FDI outflows increased by 43% to $15.5 billion.

4. With Khan Academy, the SBI Foundation launched ‘UpSchool,’ a digital learning platform.
◉ UpSchool, a digital learning initiative for students in grades 1 to 10, was launched by the SBI Foundation in collaboration with Khan Academy, an educational foundation in India.
◉ This curriculum will be provided in English, Hindi, and Kannada, with the goal of closing learning gaps and laying a sound math and reading foundation for the current academic year.
5. Mudhol Co-op Bank in Bagalkot, Karnataka, had its licence revoked by the RBI.
◉ The Mudhol Co-operative Bank Limited, Bagalkot (Karnataka), has had its licence revoked by the Reserve Bank, preventing it from repaying deposits and accepting new funds.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the revocation of the bank’s licence because it lacked appropriate capital and earning possibilities. The RBI also stated that the bank will be unable to pay its current depositors in full due to its current financial situation.
6. EASE 5.0 ‘Common Reforms Agenda’ for Public Sector Banks was launched by Nirmala Sitharaman.
◉ Under the EASENext programme, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the EASE (Enhanced Access and Service Excellence) 5.0 ‘Common Reforms Agenda’ for Public Sector Banks (PSBs).
◉ From FY19 to FY22, EASE has evolved throughout four annual editions, catalysing improvements in a variety of sectors in Public Sector Banks.

7. AR Rahman has been named ambassador for ‘The Season of Culture,’ an Indo-UK cultural platform.
◉ AR Rahman, a music composer, has been named an ambassador for the British Council’s ‘India-UK Together Season of Culture,’ which aims to foster collaboration between new artists from both countries.
◉ It was inaugurated by Britain’s Deputy High Commissioner to India, Jan Thomson, and the British Council’s Director (India), Barbara Wickham. The Season of Culture intends to strengthen collaboration between India and the United Kingdom in the arts, English, and education.
8. Mayank Kumar Agrawal has been assigned new responsibilities as the Director-General of Prasar Bharati Doordarshan.

9. MGNREGA Ombudsman N J Ojha has been appointed.
◉ N J Ojha, an ex-registrar of MS University, has been appointed for a two-year tenure as an ombudsman under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA).
◉ He will now be able to investigate claims made by MGNREGA employees, consider them, and make awards within 30 days of receiving the complaint. He will also be able to issue directions for conducting spot investigations.

10. Rajkot, Gujarat, won the 2nd Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning (DSDP).
◉ The Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi hosted the 2nd edition of the Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning (DSDP), where the top 30 districts in the area were recognised for their unique best practises in skill development.
◉ The top three districts in the competition were Rajkot in Gujarat, Cachar in Assam, and Satara in Maharashtra. A total of 467 districts from around the country competed in the DSDP Awards.

11. NHIDCL and IIT Roorkee have struck an agreement to share knowledge in the field of highway engineering.
◉ The National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Roorkee have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to share information on new ideas and technology in the field of highway engineering.

12. The 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad’s logo and mascot were unveiled by Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister.
◉ MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has unveiled the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad’s official logo and mascot. From July 28 to August 10, the worldwide event will be hosted in Mamallapuram, near Chennai.
◉ The mascot is called ‘Thambi,’ and he is a knight clothed in traditional Tamil costume, including a Veshti (Dhoti) with a shirt and folded palms, as if extending the Tamil greeting ‘Vanakkam.’
