1. The PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana scheme is extended by the government to December 2022.
◉ The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana program will be extended by the Union Cabinet for an additional three months, from October to December 2022.
◉ 80 crore people will profit from this choice.
◉ Under the 7th phase of the program, 122 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrains will be delivered over the course of the following three months for a cost of more than 44,000 crore rupees.
◉ To date, this program has cost 3 lakh 45 thousand crore rupees.
2. Coromandel International, Chambal Fertilizers, and Indian Potash Ltd. have all signed an MoU with Canadian company Canpotex for the import of 15 lakh tonnes of potash annually for three years.
◉ With an annual export of about 130 lakh tonnes of potash, Canpotex, a company in Canada, is one of the world’s top potash providers.
◉ India imports all of the potash it needs to suit its needs. Every year, the nation imports about 40 lakh tonnes of MOP.
3. An MoU was signed between the Maldives and India for the development of Hanimaadhoo International Airport.
◉ For the development of the Maldives Hanimaadhoo International Airport, the Maldives government, and Indian JMC Projects have signed a memorandum of understanding.
◉ The project is estimated to be valued at $136.6 million USD.
It has been revealed that India’s Exim Bank will provide funding for the project.
◉ The Maldives government intends to construct a terminal that can accommodate 1.3 million people yearly together with a 2.46-kilometer runway.

5. ICRA kept its FY23 GDP growth prediction for India at 7.2%.
◉ The rating agency ICRA has kept its 2% GDP growth prediction for India for the fiscal year FY23.
◉ The figure, 7.2%, is 10 basis points lower than what S&P predicted earlier in September 2022 and slightly higher than the majority of consensus expectations of 7%.
◉ India’s real GDP is predicted to reach Rs 36.85 lakh crore in Q1FY23 as opposed to Rs 32.46 lakh crore in Q1 2021–2022; this represents a growth rate of 13.5%.

6. Assigned as the new Chief of Defence Staff is Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan.
◉ General Anil Chauhan (Retired), a former commander of the Eastern Army, has been selected by the government as India’s second Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
◉ In May 2021, Chauhan stepped down from his position as Eastern Command’s GOC-in-C.
◉ He will also serve as the Department of Military Affairs’ Secretary for the Gol.
◉ In 1981, he received a commission with the Indian Army’s 11 Gorkha Rifles.
◉ Since the sudden passing of India’s first CDS, Gen. Bipin Rawat, in December 2021, the position of CDS has remained empty.
7. R Venkataramani, a seasoned attorney, has been selected as India’s new attorney general.
◉ For a three-year tenure, senior attorney R Venkataramani has been chosen to serve as India’s attorney general.
◉ After K K Venugopal’s term ends on September 30, he will take over.
◉ In July 2017, Venugopal, 91, was chosen for the position. On June 29, he was reappointed as the nation’s top law enforcement official for another three months. He may be the AG who has held the position the longest.

8. Anand-Milind, Shailendra Singh, and Kumar Sanu will receive the Lata Mangeshkar Award.
◉ On the occasion of the late singing legend’s birth in Indore, the National Lata Mangeshkar Award was given to prominent playback singers Kumar Sanu and Shailendra Singh as well as the composer team Anand-Milind.
◉ Shailendra Singh, Anand-Milind, and Kumar Sanu received the honors for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively, from State Minister of Culture Usha Thakur.

9. Successful Very Short Range Air Defense System Missile tests were conducted by DRDO.
◉ The Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) has been successfully tested twice by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) using a ground-based portable launcher from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Chandipur, Odisha.
◉ SHORADS is a Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) that was designed and created domestically by the DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in association with other DRDO laboratories and Indian Industry Partners.
◉ The Man Portable Air Defense System was created by the DRDO’s Research Center Imarat, Hyderabad, in coordination with other DRDO institutions.
◉ Use – To eliminate close-range, low-altitude aerial threats

10. The Duleep Trophy 2022 championship was won by West Zone.
◉ Headed by Ajinkya Rahane West Zone defeated South Zone on the fifth and final day of the tournament in Coimbatore by a margin of 294 runs to claim the Duleep Trophy 2022 victory.
◉ With this victory, West Zone has now won the most tournament titles (19), with North Zone coming in second with 18 victories.
◉ Jaiswal’s valiant double tonne earned him the distinction of “Man of the Match.”
