1. Bestu Varsh, the Gujarati New Year, will be observed on October 26, 2022.
◉ On October 26, 2022, Gujarati New Year, also known as Bestu Varsh, was observed. Varsha-Pratipada and Padwa are additional names for the Gujarati New Year.
◉ The Vikram Sanvat 2079 is another name for the Gujarati New Year.

2. Haleem, a Hyderabadi from Telangana, won the Most Popular GI award.
◉ The Hyderabadi Haleem defeated all of the other 17 food products having Geographical Indication (GI) designation from all over India, including the Rasogulla, Bikaneri Bhujiya, and Ratlami Sev, to win the title of “Most Popular GI” in the food category.
◉ The winner was chosen through a voting process run by the department for the development of industry and internal trade and was given the award by the ministry of commerce and industry (under the commerce ministry).
