1. India and Austria have a migration and mobility pact. 3
◉ Two of the five agreements that India and Austria have inked are in the best interests of the Indian population there.
◉ The Indian community would benefit from the two agreements.
◉ For those who want to work in Austria and go to India for business purposes, as well as for students and professionals, there is an agreement on “Migration and Mobility.”
◉ The “Working Holiday” scheme, which will allow Indian students in Austria to work for six months, is another arrangement.
2. Kerala’s chief minister opened the Indian Library Congress in Kannur.
◉ At the Collectorate Ground in Kannur, Kerala, Indian Library Congress was opened by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
◉ The event was planned by the People’s Mission for Social Development and Library Council in collaboration with Kannur University.

◉ The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) reports that India’s unemployment rate rose to a 16-month high of 8.30% in December 2022 from 8% in November 2022.
◉ While the rural unemployment rate decreased to 7.44% from 7.55%, the urban unemployment rate rose to 10.09% in December from 8.96% the previous month.
◉ In December, the employment rate jumped to 37.1%, which is a new high since January 2022.

7. The total GST collected in December increased by 15% to 1.49 lakh rupees.
◉ In December 2022, 1.49 lakh rupees in gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) income was collected.
◉ In comparison to the same month last year, the GST receipts are up by 15%.
◉ The total gross GST revenue collected in December 2022 was Rs. 1,49,507 crore, of which the CGST portion was Rs. 26,711 crore, the SGST portion was Rs. 33,357 crores, the IGST portion was Rs. 78,434 crore (including the amount collected on goods imported) and the cess portion was Rs. 11,005 crores (including the amount collected on goods imported).
◉ The monthly GST receipts have exceeded 1.4 lakh crore for ten consecutive months.

8. The government begins the process of purchasing 100 more K9-Vajras.
◉ The South Korean defense company Hanwha Defence licensed technology to Indian manufacturer Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which produces the K-9 Vajra self-propelled howitzers. The Defense Ministry has started the procurement procedure for 100 more of these weapons.
◉ Based on the K-9 Thunder, the K-9 Vajra is a tracked, 52-caliber, 155 mm self-propelled howitzer made by L&T using technology from Hanwha Defence in South Korea.
◉ The contract for the 100th cannon, which was delivered to the Army in February 2021, was signed in May 2017.
◉ The deal also included the transfer of technologies for upkeep to a workshop on an Army post in order to support the howitzers for the duration of their operational lives.

10. R Krishnakumar, a veteran of the Tata group, passes away
◉ R Krishnakumar, a longtime member of the Tata Group and a former director of Tata Sons, passed away recently at the age of 84.
◉ In 1963, he began working for Tata Administrative Services, and in 1965, he switched over to Tata Global Beverages.
◉ In 1982, he was appointed vice president of South India Plantations after serving through the transformation of Tata Global Beverages into Tata Tea.
