1. The 26th National Youth Festival was launched by PM Modi in Hubbali, Karnataka.
◉ Inaugurating the 26th National Youth Festival, which will take place in Karnataka from January 12–16, 2023, is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ Viksit Yuva – Viksit Bharat is the event’s theme.
◉ Folk songs and dances were also featured at the occasion.
◉ During Amrit Kaal, the festival seeks to increase the contribution of youth to nation-building. The goal is to spread the “Panch Pran” philosophy that the prime minister articulated in his Independence Day speech.
◉ The festival connects the participants in the spirit of Ek Bharat, and Shreshtha Bharat by bringing varied cultures from around the nation to a single stage.
2. The MoU to establish a Hindi Chair at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was signed by the Indian High Commission.
◉ An agreement to create a Hindi Chair has been inked by the Indian High Commission and Sri Lanka’s Sabaragamuwa University.
◉ A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by High Commissioner Gopal Bagale and Sabaragamuwa University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Uday Ratnayake to establish a Hindi Chair for cultural engagement through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
◉ Students will learn more about India, its history, and its culture thanks to the Hindi Chair. By selecting Indian faculty, will open the door to the popularisation of Hindi.
3. The India-US Trade Policy Forum held its 13th ministerial meeting in Washington.
◉ In Washington, DC, USA, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, took part in the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the India-US Trade Policy Forum.
◉ CIM also had a one-on-one meeting with USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai before the delegation-level discussions.
◉ The Ministers emphasized the importance of the TPF in developing strong bilateral trade links and strengthening the bilateral economic relationship for the benefit of the laboring populations in both countries.
4. The Integrated Food Security Scheme was renamed by the center to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana.
◉ Antodaya Ann Yojna (AAY) & Primary Household (PHH) recipients will receive free foodgrains under a new Integrated Food Security program that the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has authorized. The program will begin on January 1st, 2023.
◉ The new program is known as the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY).
◉ More than 80 crores of the poorest of the poor will profit as of January 1, 2023, when the new program will be put into action.

8. The ballistic missile Prithvi-Il test launch by India was successful.
◉ The Short-Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM) Prithvi-Il was successfully launched by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, on the coast of Odisha.
◉ The missile can carry 500–1,000 kg of warheads and has a range of about 350 km. It is propelled by twin light propulsion engines.

11. Sharad Yadav, a former Union Minister, passed away.
◉ Sharad Yadav, a former Union minister and leader of the RJD, passed away recently in Gurugram at the age of 75.

◉ From 1999 to 2004, he also held the position of Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Consumer Affairs.
