Current Affairs of 30th January – National News
1. South Africa and India agreed to jointly introduce 12 African cheetahs.
◉ An MoU was inked by India and South Africa to release 12 African cheetahs every year for the following eight to ten years.
◉ According to the agreement, a first flight with 12 cheetahs will depart from South Africa and land in India in February 2023.
◉ Eight Cheetah that were imported to India from Namibia last year will join the cats.
◉ Following the local extinction of this famous species due to overhunting and habitat destruction in the past century, an effort is being made to reintroduce cheetahs to a former range state.
2. An MoU on Cultural Cooperation was signed by Egypt and India.
◉ A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Ministry of Culture of India and the Government of Egypt.
◉ Both Egypt’s Sameh Hassan Shoukry and India’s G. Kishan Reddy, ministers of culture, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
◉ Five years have passed since the signing of this MoU.
3. Jharkhand conducted the initial migratory survey.
◉ During the COVID crisis, almost 8.5 lakh migrants visited their home state of Jharkhand. The State and Responsible Migration Initiative was launched by the Jharkhand State Government in 2021 to assist these migrants in finding sustainable employment.
◉ The Jharkhand Government just started the first survey of Migrants to accomplish this. Not just Jharkhand has established such states. Many other states, like Punjab and Tamil Nadu, have already started conducting these surveys.
◉ One thousand one hundred and ten homes across 24 districts will be surveyed.
◉ Its goal is to build a comprehensive database of migrants and the state’s migration patterns.
◉ A state-level policy will be developed using the survey’s results.
4. 23rd Khadi Fest launched in Mumbai
◉ The 23rd edition of Khadi Fest was launched by Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). Khadi Fest- 23 will take place from 27 January to 24 February 2023.
◉ The festival will feature clothing made of Khadi, Pashmina, Kalamkari, Phulkari, and Tussar silk, among other materials, and there will be vendors selling dry fruits, tea, kahwa, honey, bamboo products, carpets, aloe vera products, and other items.
5. Amit Shah laid the cornerstone for the Union Home Minister National Forensic Sciences University.

◉ In August 2023, the 15th BRICS summit will take place in Durban, South Africa.
◉ In Massawa, Eritrea, Osman Saleh and Sergei Lavrov, the foreign ministers of Russia and the State of Eritrea, made the announcement.
◉ BRIC collaboration began in 2006 when the foreign ministers of Brazil, Russia, India, and China met for the first time outside of the UN General Assembly. Later in April 2011, South Africa took part in the third BRICS Summit in Sanya, China, for the first time.

7. EPFO started Program Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0
◉ The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has started a programme called “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0” to reach out to more than 685 districts across the nation.
◉ In front of the Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) and EPFO officers, it was electronically inaugurated by Arti Ahuja, Secretary (Ministry of Labour & Employment), from the EPFO Headquarters.
◉ The Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 will serve as a forum for information sharing with district-level officials from various State and Central Government departments in addition to serving as a network for employers and employees to discuss grievances.

◉ Nikhat Zareen, a world boxing champion and gold medalist at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games has agreed to promote the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), a national miner and India’s largest producer of iron ore, as its brand ambassador.
◉ Nikhat Zareen is a symbol of the NMDC brand’s strength, bravery, agility, and sense of pride in one’s country.
