1. The start of the government’s New India Literacy Program
◉ The “New India Literacy Project,” a new centrally sponsored program with a budget of over Rs 1000 crore, was recently introduced by the government. It would be implemented between the fiscal years 2022–2023 and 2026–2027.
◉ Five crore non-literates between the ages of 15 and older are the target population for the program.
◉ Surveyors in the States and Union Territories go door to door to collect information to identify the beneficiaries of the program using a mobile app.
2. Giriraj Singh starts a program called “Captive Employment”
◉ In New Delhi, Captive Employers, a novel program under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), was started by Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh.
◉ Rural poor young will be trained by captive employers, who will then hire trained youth in their main business or subsidiary.
◉ For the first phase, roughly 31,000 rural adolescents would be employed by 19 captive employers.
3. According to the Amrit Bharat Station Program, the government identified 1275 railway stations.
◉ Under the Amrit Bharat Station Program, the government has designated 1275 railway stations for development of railways stations in India.
◉ According to this plan, stations will be continuously developed using a long-term strategy.
◉ To upgrade the amenities at the stations, such as station entrances, waiting areas, restrooms, free Wi-Fi, better passenger information systems, and executive lounges, master plans must be prepared and implemented in stages.
4. To build 7432 public EV charging stations, the center has approved spending Rs 800 crore.
◉ Under the Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Electric Vehicles (FAME) Programme Phase-2, the Union Government has approved 800 million rupees for the construction of 7432 public fast charging stations across the nation.
◉ In order to develop the infrastructure needed for the widespread usage of electric vehicles, the government created the Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme in 2015.
◉ Approximately 6,586 charging stations are available nationwide at the moment. The ecosystem for charging electric vehicles will be significantly boosted by the installation of the new 7,432 public charging points.

◉ The greening of a 5 km buffer zone surrounding the Aravalli Hill Range in four states is a significant project.

◉ India dropped from 138th to 144th in the annual passport ranking for 2023, a drop of six places.
Financial advice services company Arton Capital has released The Passport Index 2023, which assesses passports from 199 different countries.
◉ The mobility score of each nation, which is based on benefits including visa-free travel, visa on arrival, an eVisa (if used within three days), and electronic travel authorization, determines the rankings.

8. Surcharges levied by the government on Google Pay and other payment apps
◉ In a circular, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) suggested adding “Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI)” fees to merchant transactions made using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
◉ Beginning on April 1, NPCI will impose an interchange fee of up to 1.1 percent on merchant UPI transactions made with prepaid payment instruments.
It would be charged on all UPI payments over Rs 2,000 made to small, large, and online merchants.
