1. By 2026, India will be the second-largest solar manufacturer in the world.
◉ In a recent joint analysis, the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) and JMK Research and Analytics predicted that by 2026, India might overtake China as the world’s second-largest producer of solar photovoltaics.
◉ From 18GW in March 2022 to 38GW in March 2023, India’s total nameplate capacity for module production increased by more than double.
◉ Gujarat is India’s top state in terms of upcoming PV manufacturing plants. It makes up around 57% of the total capacity for new PV manufacture.
2. Speaking at the 5th International Conference on Disaster Resistant Infrastructure is PM Modi
◉ The 5th International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI 2023) has heard a video greeting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
◉ He urged everyone to use a coordinated strategy to mitigate the effects of calamities.
◉ The summit is growing in importance as a forum for developed and emerging nations, big and small.
◉ Providing Resilient and Inclusive Infrastructure is the conference theme for CDRI this year.
3. To combat the heat, the Telangana government implements a “cool roof” strategy.
◉ Telangana Cool Roof Strategy 2023–28 was introduced by Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development K. T. Rama Rao in an effort to reduce energy usage while also improving the state’s thermal comfort and heat resilience.
◉ A cool roof is made to reflect more sunlight than a typical roof, minimizing heat retention and cooling indoor spaces. It may employ specific paints or tile covering.
◉ The Telangana Cool Roof Policy 2023–28 recommends installing a cool roof as a measure to strengthen resistance to excessive heat.
◉ Telangana was the first state to adopt a cool roof policy after including it in requests for building permits.

4. Public sector banks provide RBI Rs. 35,012 billion in unclaimed deposits.
◉ As of February 2023, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received unclaimed deposits of Rs. 35,012 billion from the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) (RBI).
◉ More than ten years have passed since these deposits were last used.
◉ SBI tops the list with Rs 8,086 crore in unclaimed funds, followed by Rs 5,340 crore for Punjab National Bank and Rs 4,558 crore for Canara Bank.
◉ The 10.24 crore accounts that were handed to the RBI contain these unclaimed deposits.
5. India According to the World Bank, GDP growth is anticipated to slow to 6.3% in FY24.
◉ The World Bank predicts that India’s GDP growth will decelerate to 3 percent in FY24 as a result of decreased consumption brought on by slower income development.
◉ The World Bank has revised its previous prediction of 6.6% economic growth for India in the current fiscal year.
◉ Growth for the previous fiscal year was pegged at 6.9% by the World Bank.
◉ The Central Bank of India has increased interest rates by 250 basis points since May 2022 in an effort to control inflation.
6. Axis Bank introduces a business management tool for retailers
◉ In order to enable merchants to accept payments through multiple digital means, Axis Bank and VISA together released the smartphone application “Digital Dukaan.”
◉ The “Digital Dukaan” software was created especially to take care of business needs including billing, inventory management, and receiving electronic payments.
◉ By establishing new channels, Digital Dukaan will also make it possible for company owners to easily launch an online store and expand their operations.

7. The Chennai-based Sudha Shivkumar is elected president of the FICCI Women Organization. At the 39th annual session, Sudha Shivkumar took over as the 40th president of the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO).

In 2016–17, she served as the FLO Chennai Chapter’s Chairperson.
◉ The oldest women-led and women-focused business organization in Southeast Asia is FLO.

8. Christina Koch, a NASA astronaut, becomes the first woman to complete a lunar orbit.
◉ Christina Koch, the first female astronaut, has been chosen by NASA for the Artemis II mission.
Additional crew members include Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency, Victor Glover (the first black astronaut), and Reid Wiseman of NASA (CSA).
◉ Next year, the four-person crew will spend ten days traveling around the moon.
◉ The four astronauts who will travel to lunar orbit and return with the Artemis 2 mission have been revealed by NASA.
◉ It is a component of NASA’s Artemis program, which intends to send the next man and woman to the moon by 2024.

11. Sarah Thomas, a winner of the Sahitya Akademi, dies
◉ At the age of 88, renowned author Sara Thomas passed away.
◉ In addition to more than 100 short tales, she has authored 17 books.
◉ The Kerala Sahitya Akademi Prize was given to her well-known piece “Narmadipudava” in 1979.
◉ The debut book was titled “Jeevitham Enna Nathi.” PA Bakker turned Sarah Thomas’ book “Muripadukal” into the film “Manimuzhakkam.” Film versions of her books Asthamayam, Pavizhamuthu, and Archana have also been produced.
