1. ‘Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’ pilot initiative was started by the Gujarat chief minister.
◉ The Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme was introduced by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan in Nadia in the Gujarati Kheda region.
◉ The Indian Postal Department, the Indian Post Payments Bank, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment are carrying out the pilot-program-launched project.
◉ Gujarat was the first Indian state to introduce a programme for the well-being of labourers.
◉ The Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’s goal is to put our Shram Yogis’ well-being and safety first so they can have financial security in the event of an accident.
2. ‘Operation Broader Sword’ was carried out by India and the US.
◉ ‘Operation Broader Sword’ was jointly carried out by India and the USA to halt the smuggling of drugs through the postal system.
◉ It targeted shipments of synthetic drug precursors, combination medical gadgets, and unlawful, potentially harmful, unapproved prescription medications transported through international mail facilities.
◉ The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and US Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) all participated in the operation.
3. India and Bangladesh begin trading in rupees.
◉ To lessen reliance on the US dollar and strengthen regional commerce and currency, Bangladesh and India started a highly anticipated trading transaction in rupees.
◉ For the first time, Bangladesh has conducted bilateral trade in a currency other than the US dollar.
With the implementation of the Taka-Rupee dual currency card, which would be launched in September 2023, the transaction expenses during trade with India would be reduced.
◉ However, frontier business between Bangladesh and India takes place in discrete locations known as “border huts,” where small-scale exchanges of both currencies take place.

5. For Rs 537 crore, CarTrade Tech would purchase OLX India’s automotive division.
◉ CarTrade Tech, a used automobile marketplace with its headquarters in Mumbai, is setting aside Rs 537 crore to buy Olx India’s auto sales division.
◉ It will purchase a 100% share in Sobek Auto India (Sobek), which manages the automotive division of Olx India.
◉ For the use of particular brands and technologies, Sobek agreed to an Intellectual Property Licence Agreement and a Transitional Support Agreement.
◉ The multi-channel auto platform with its headquarters in Mumbai is supported by investors such as Warburg Pincus, Temasek, JPMorgan, and March Capital.
◉ The platform offers other value-added services in addition to the purchasing and selling of both new and old cars.
6. Kui language inclusion in the eighth schedule was authorised by the government of Odisha.
◉ The Kui language should be included in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution, according to a recommendation made by the Odisha state cabinet.
◉ The Kandha community uses the South-Eastern Dravidian language Kui. The Odia script, which is also used to write the Odia language, is the one that has historically been used to write Kui.
◉ The eighth schedule’s inclusion of Kui will aid in the promotion, preservation, and spread of the language and culture. Additionally, publication, content development, and recognition will continue to grow.

◉ Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, presided over the 50th meeting of the GST Council, which was held in New Delhi.

10. At the 34th International Biology Olympiad, India won the most medals.
◉ With an all-gold performance at the 34th iteration of the tournament held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, India took the top spot in the International Biology Olympiad medal tally for the first time.
◉ Dhruv Advani, from Bengaluru, Ishan Pednekar, from Kota, Rajasthan; Megh Chhabda, from Jalna, Maharashtra; and Rohit Panda, from Risali, Chattisgarh, made up the four students who made up the Indian squad.
◉ This is the first time India has won every gold medal at the IBO and has also been the country with the most medals overall.
◉ The Indian team was led by Dr Anupama Ronad of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai and Prof. Madan M. Chaturvedi, a former senior professor at Delhi University.

11. Navantia of Spain and L&T have signed an agreement for a submarine project.
◉ For the purpose of submitting a techno-commercial bid for the esteemed P75 (India) submarine programme of the Indian Navy, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and the Spanish company Navantia have inked a teaming agreement.
◉ The Navy is looking to purchase six cutting-edge diesel-electric submarines under Project 75 (I) to replace its ageing submarine force.
◉ The estimated price of the P75 (India) Submarine Project is Euro 4.8. A 30-year life-cycle sustenance contract with a similar value would then come after this.
◉ Based on its S80 class of submarines, Navantia would design the P75(1) subs.
◉ Prior to being delivered to the Spanish Navy, the first S80 class submarine, which was launched in 2021, is undergoing sea trials.
