1. Under the “Lakhpati Didi” program, the government intends to provide skill training to 2 crore women.
◉ Under the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme, which attempts to encourage them to create micro-enterprises, the government is planning to provide two crore women with skill development training.
◉ In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “It is my dream to make two crore lakhpati didis in villages.”
◉ The government is currently planning to train two crore women under the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme, which is already in place in various states.
◉ Women would receive training in a variety of professions, including producing LED bulbs, piloting drones, and plumbing.
2. Information Technology (IT) services provider Infosys secures a $1.6 billion contract with telecom operator Liberty Global to develop and expand the entertainment and connectivity platforms of the digital communications company.
◉ The initial term of the agreement is five years, but it can be extended for a further eight years, increasing the deal’s worth to €2.3 billion ($2.5 billion).
◉ This is the third significant contract that Infosys has signed this year, and it comes as the business has lowered its revenue forecast for the current fiscal year due to challenging macroeconomic conditions.
◉ The contract with Infosys comes after HCL Tech last week, which was awarded a $2.1 billion contract by Verizon.
3. Goa will provide free IVF care in a government hospital.
◉ The first state in India to provide free in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy is Goa.
◉ The Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim hosted the official opening of this service as well as assisted reproductive technology (ART) and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
◉ The price of IVF in India ranges from Rs 70,000 to Rs 3 lakh every cycle, depending on the hospital and the type of therapy.

◉ Soumya Kanti Ghoshon, Group Chief Economic Advisor at the State Bank of India (SBI), has stated again that India is expected to surpass China as the third-largest economy by 2027.
◉ In terms of economic strength, India is currently rated fifth, after the US, China, Japan, and Germany.
◉ India has the tenth-largest economy in 2014. India overtook the UK to become the fifth-largest economy in 2022. India will surpass the United States and China as the third-largest economy by 2027, most likely within the next few years.
5. Four cooperative banks are fined by the RBI for breaking the guidelines.
◉ Four cooperative banks have received financial fines from the Reserve Bank for noncompliance with regulatory requirements.
◉ These institutions are The Aska Co-operative Central Bank Ltd., Bally Co-operative Bank Ltd., Howrah, The Nabapalli Co-operative Bank Ltd., West Bengal, and Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank, Vadodara.
◉ Nabapalli Co-operative Bank in West Bengal received a fine of Rs 2.50 lakh, and Bally Co-operative Bank in West Bengal received a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
◉ Aska Cooperative Bank in Aska, Odisha, was fined 50,000 rupees, and Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank in Vadodara, Gujarat, was fined 5 lakh rupees.
