1. Under the “Lakhpati Didi” program, the government intends to provide skill training to 2 crore women.
◉ Under the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme, which attempts to encourage them to create micro-enterprises, the government is planning to provide two crore women with skill development training.
◉ In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “It is my dream to make two crore lakhpati didis in villages.”
◉ The government is currently planning to train two crore women under the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme, which is already in place in various states.
◉ Women would receive training in a variety of professions, including producing LED bulbs, piloting drones, and plumbing.

2. Information Technology (IT) services provider Infosys secures a $1.6 billion contract with telecom operator Liberty Global to develop and expand the entertainment and connectivity platforms of the digital communications company.
◉ The initial term of the agreement is five years, but it can be extended for a further eight years, increasing the deal’s worth to €2.3 billion ($2.5 billion).
◉ This is the third significant contract that Infosys has signed this year, and it comes as the business has lowered its revenue forecast for the current fiscal year due to challenging macroeconomic conditions.
◉ The contract with Infosys comes after HCL Tech last week, which was awarded a $2.1 billion contract by Verizon.

3. Goa will provide free IVF care in a government hospital.
◉ The first state in India to provide free in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy is Goa.
◉ The Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim hosted the official opening of this service as well as assisted reproductive technology (ART) and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
◉ The price of IVF in India ranges from Rs 70,000 to Rs 3 lakh every cycle, depending on the hospital and the type of therapy.

4. According to SBI’s chief economist, India would have the third-largest economy by 2027.
◉ Soumya Kanti Ghoshon, Group Chief Economic Advisor at the State Bank of India (SBI), has stated again that India is expected to surpass China as the third-largest economy by 2027.
◉ In terms of economic strength, India is currently rated fifth, after the US, China, Japan, and Germany.
◉ India has the tenth-largest economy in 2014. India overtook the UK to become the fifth-largest economy in 2022. India will surpass the United States and China as the third-largest economy by 2027, most likely within the next few years.

5. Four cooperative banks are fined by the RBI for breaking the guidelines.
◉ Four cooperative banks have received financial fines from the Reserve Bank for noncompliance with regulatory requirements.
◉ These institutions are The Aska Co-operative Central Bank Ltd., Bally Co-operative Bank Ltd., Howrah, The Nabapalli Co-operative Bank Ltd., West Bengal, and Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank, Vadodara.
◉ Nabapalli Co-operative Bank in West Bengal received a fine of Rs 2.50 lakh, and Bally Co-operative Bank in West Bengal received a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
◉ Aska Cooperative Bank in Aska, Odisha, was fined 50,000 rupees, and Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank in Vadodara, Gujarat, was fined 5 lakh rupees.

6. Anwarul Haq Kakar is sworn in as the interim prime minister of Pakistan Anwarul Haq Kakar is sworn in as the interim prime minister of Pakistan to lead a neutral political setup to govern the cash-strapped nation and hold the upcoming general elections.
◉ In a brief ceremony held at the President’s House, President Arif Alvi gave the oath to 52-year-old Kakar in the presence of several prominent figures, including outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
◉ He was elected as Pakistan’s eighth interim prime minister.
◉ Kakar publicly announced his resignation from the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and the Senate, demonstrating his dedication to the impartiality required by his current position.

◉ 53 individuals have received Fire Service Medals in total as a result of Independence Day 2023.
◉ Out of them, 03 personnel received the President’s Fire Service Medal for courage and 01 personnel received the Fire Service Medal for Gallantry for their various acts of bravery and courage.
◉ For their individual remarkable and meritorious records of service, the President’s Fire Service Medal for Remarkable Service is given to 8 personnel, while the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service is given to 41 personnel.

8. Woakes selected as July 2023’s ICC Men’s Player of the Month
◉ Chris Woakes, an all-rounder for England, received the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for July 2023.
◉ The Englishman prevailed over fellow countryman Zak Crawley and Bas de Leede of the Netherlands to win the prize.
◉ For his 19 wickets in three games at an average of 18.15, he won Player-of-the-Match at the Oval and was also named Player-of-the-Series.

9. Ashleigh Gardner becomes the first Australian to receive two ICC awards in a row.
◉ As the first Australian cricketer to win the ICC Player of the Month Award in back-to-back months, Ashleigh Gardner of Australia has accomplished a historic milestone.
◉ Ashleigh Gardner is the only cricketer from Australia to ever win the ICC Player of the Month award twice.
◉ Gardner won the ICC POTM award for her great efforts in the month of July.
◉ She has now won this renowned monthly award on four separate occasions, besting fellow all-rounder Ellyse Perry and Nat Sciver-Brunt in the process.

10. Steven Finn, an England bowler, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
◉ Fast bowler Steven Finn of England has declared his retirement from all cricket-related activities.
◉ He sustained a knee injury that sidelined him for the majority of 2023 and forced him to end his 18-year career.
◉ Finn made his international debut in 2010 against Bangladesh and went on to play 36 Tests, 69 ODIs, and 21 T20Is.
◉ Early in his career, he made an impression by returning 14 wickets in England’s victory in the men’s Ashes in 2010–2011.
◉ In the 2015 Ashes, which England won, he also took 12 wickets, which is the second-highest total for England. He concluded with a total of 125 wickets in Tests, 102 in ODIs, and 27 in T20 Internationals.
