1. “Amrit Kalash Yatra” was launched by Amit Shah as part of “Meri Maati-Mera Desh”
◉ The ‘Meri Mati-Mera Desh’ campaign’s Amrit Kalash Yatra was introduced in New Delhi by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
◉ The campaign tries to emotionally engage every citizen with the notion of building a bigger India.
◉ By August 15, 2047, the Amritkal and “Sankalp Se Siddhi” efforts will position India at the top of the world in every industry.
◉ Every person, family, citizen, and child should have an emotional connection to the notion of building a great India, according to the philosophy behind this program.
2. ‘One Nation, One Election’ Panel will be led by Ramnath Kovind.
◉ A committee headed by former Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has been established by the Union government to study the viability of holding the Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections at the same time.
◉ This development comes after the government said that a special parliamentary session will be held from September 18–22, 2023, sparking speculation over why the session would be held.
◉ The idea of “One Nation, One Election” aims to time the Lok Sabha election with the polls for all state legislatures in India. The main goal is to hold all of these elections at once, either on the same day or at the same time.

3. India’s GDP projection is increased by Morgan Stanley to 6.4 percent.
◉ Nomura and Morgan Stanley economists increased their estimates for India’s fiscal 2024 after statistics revealed that the country’s GDP expanded at its fastest rate in a year in the quarter from April to June.
◉ However, as quarterly growth fell short of expectations, economists at BofA Global Research lowered their projections.
◉ Nomura has increased its earlier forecast of 5.5 percent growth to 5.9 percent growth for India’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the year ending March 2024. It was increased by Morgan Stanley from 6.2 percent to 6.4 percent.
◉ India’s first-quarter GDP increased by a higher-than-anticipated 7.8 percent on an annual basis, supported by robust demand and strong services activity.

◉ As managing director and chief executive officer of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Uday Kotak has resigned.

◉ Until December 31, 2023, Dipak Gupta, the joint managing director, will perform the MD and CEO’s responsibilities, pending clearance from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the bank’s members.
◉ Since August 1, 2002, Uday Kotak has served as the MD and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (formerly known as Kotak Mahindra Finance Limited), which he founded and promotes.

◉ The esteemed International Mediator Panel of the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) has welcomed former Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana as a member.
◉ Justice Ramana attended the annual conference known as “Singapore Convention Week,” which was put on by the Ministry of Law of Singapore, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and more than 20 other partner organizations.
◉ Justice Ramana discussed the value of mediation in lightening the load on the justice delivery system while serving as CJI.

7. The 2023 Ramon Magsaysay Award went to Ravi Kannan.
◉ The Ramon Magsaysay Award 2023 was won by surgical oncologist R Ravi Kannan, who is based in Assam.
◉ He got the prize for his people-centered and pro-poor programs, which revolutionized the way cancer was treated in Assam.
◉ Before relocating to Silchar in 2007 to serve at the Cachar Cancer Hospital, Kannan was employed by the Cancer Institute in Chennai.
◉ Established in 1957, the Magsaysay Award honors people who have demonstrated integrity in public service, courage in the face of adversity, and realistic idealism in democratic countries. It is also referred to as the Asian Nobel Prize.

◉ India won the first Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup in 2023 at Salalah, Oman, after defeating Pakistan in a penalty shootout in the championship game of hockey.
◉ With the victory, Asia qualified for the FIH Men’s Hockey5s World Cup in Oman in 2024.
◉ India subsequently earned a spot in the FIH Men’s Hockey5s World Cup in Oman in 2024.
◉ India defeated Pakistan in the Hockey 5s format for the first time in three encounters. After Mohammed Raheel scored twice to pull India back from a 2-4 deficit in the second half, the game went to a shootout.

10. Heath Streak, a former captain of Zimbabwe, dies away
◉ Heath Streak, a former captain of Zimbabwe, went suddenly at the age of 49.
◉ Between 1993 and 2005, Streak represented Zimbabwe in 189 ODIs and 65 Tests. He finished with 216 Test wickets and 239 ODI wickets.
◉ Streak led Zimbabwe as captain from 2000 to 2004. He captained Zimbabwe in 68 One Day Internationals, winning 18 and losing 47, with three games ending in a draw. Streak led Zimbabwe in four of its 21 Test matches, winning four, while also losing 11 and drawing six.
