1. PM is going to the DGP conference in Jaipur.
◉ The three-day annual meeting of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, starting on January 5 in Jaipur.

◉ Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, has inaugurated 200 electric buses from Guwahati.

◉ On the first day of the new year, Gujarat broke the Guinness record by conducting mass Surya Namaskar simultaneously at 108 locations throughout the state.

4. THDC India will purchase the Kalai II hydropower project from Reliance Power.
◉ A deal has been signed by Reliance Power to sell THDC India its 1,200 MW Kalai II hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh for Rs 128.39 crore.
◉ The deal was made to make money off of the hydroelectric power plant.
◉ The proposed 1,200 MW Kalai-II hydroelectric project, located in the Lohit River basin of Arunachal Pradesh, will have its development rights, related physical assets, studies, clearances, designs, and intellectual property transferred to THDC for a total consideration of Rs 128.39 crore under the terms of the agreement, subject to certain indemnities, representations, and covenants.

5. Argentina Denies Membership in the BRICS In the administration of President Javier Milei
◉ The invitation to become a member of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) alliance of significant rising countries has been formally denied by the President of Argentina, Javier Milei.

6. December saw a 10% increase in GST collection to Rs 1.64 lakh cr.
◉ The Ministry of Finance provided data showing that the overall Goods and Services Tax (GST) receipts in December 2023 were recorded at Rs 1,64,882 crore, 10.3 percent more than Rs 149,507 crore in December 2022.
◉ GST receipts were reported at Rs 167,929 crore in November 2023.
◉ The income from domestic transactions (including the import of services) during the month was 13% more than the income from the same sources in the previous year.
◉ As we enter the seventh month of the current fiscal year, we have collected more than Rs 1.60 trillion.
