1. GI Tags are given to Miraj’s Tanpuras and Sitars.
◉ Miraj, a small town in Maharashtra’s Sangli district that is renowned for its skill in crafting musical instruments, has been bestowed with the coveted Geographical Indication (GI) tags for its sitars and tanpuras.
◉ The makers assert that some of the most well-known musicians, including those in the classical music and cinema industries, strongly demand these Miraj-made instruments.
◉ Over seven generations of craftsmen have worked to create the sitar and tanpura, two string instruments with a history dating back more than 300 years in Miraj.
2. AGEL plans to invest ₹1.5 trillion in Khavda to build the largest RE park in the world.
◉ At the Khavda renewable energy complex in Gujarat, Adani Green Energy Ltd intends to invest over ₹1.5 trillion through 2030 to build the largest renewable energy plant in the world, with a 30-gigawatt capacity.
◉ The project will add 26 GW of solar and 4 GW of wind generation capacity. It is a component of the Adani Group’s renewable energy flagship strategy, which aims to create 45 GW of installed renewable energy capacity in the nation by 2030.
