National
1. The NITI Aayog has released the North Eastern Region District SDG Index for 2021–22, with East Sikkim at the top.
- With technical assistance from UNDP, NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (M/DoNER) have published the North Eastern Region (NER) District SDG Index Report and Dashboard 2021–22. The index is based on the SDG India Index from the NITI Aayog.
- The North Eastern Region (NER) District SDG Index 2021-22 was topped by East Sikkim district of Sikkim, while Kiphire district of Nagaland was ranked last among 103 districts in the ranking. Gomati, North Tripura is ranked second, and West Tripura is ranked third.
2. BPR&D joins with AICTE to launch MANTHAN 2021, India’s first national security hackathon.
- In partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) has organised the ‘MANTHAN 2021′ national hackathon.
- The primary goal of this hackathon is to develop creative concepts and technological solutions for tackling the security concerns that the country’s intelligence agencies face in the twenty-first century, as well as to strengthen these enforcement organisations.
3. India was elected to the Commonwealth of Nations (CA). In addition, the POC of the Universal Postal Union
- During the 27th UPU Congress in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on August 27, 2021, India won elections for membership in two major bodies of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
- With 134 votes, India was elected to the Council of Administration (CA) out of 156 countries. In the CA elections, the country garnered the most votes from South Asia and Oceania.
4. The Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with NIFT, has launched the ‘INDIAsize’ project.
- The Ministry of Textile has launched the project ‘INDIAsize’ in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in New Delhi to establish Indian size charts based on body measurements of the Indian people for better fitting of ready-to-wear garments.
- The project ‘INDIAsize’ intends to use 3D body scanners to measure 25000 persons between the ages of 18 and 65 in six distinct regions of India. New Delhi (North), Mumbai (West), Chennai (South), Hyderabad (Center), Kolkata (East), and Shillong are the six areas (North-East).
5. The SVEEP Consultation Workshop is a two-day event organised by the Election Commission.
- On August 25-26, 2021, the Election Commission of India (ECI) hosted a Consultation Workshop on Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
- The two-day workshop’s main goal was to evaluate state SVEEP plans, hold detailed discussions on key areas of SVEEP, and develop a comprehensive strategy for future elections.
6. After Karnataka, MP is the second state to implement the National Education Policy 2020.

7. In Gorakhpur, President Ram Nath Kovind will lay the foundation stone for Uttar Pradesh’s first Ayush University.
- President Ram Nath Kovind lay the foundation stone of Uttar Pradesh’s first AYUSH University on the third day of his visit. In the city, he also opened the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Vishwavidyalaya.
- The state government intends to spend Rs. 815 crore on the development of the AYUSH University, for which it has purchased 52 acres of land near Pipri and Tarkulhi villages.
