1. In Srinagar, the J&K Police Department hosts a cycling event called “Pedal for Peace.”
- Around 1,000 bikers took part in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department’s “Pedal for Peace” cycle event.
- The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in association with the J-K Cycling Association, Srinagar, organised a big sporting event called “Pedal for Peace” as part of the “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” celebrations.
2. The state fish of Sikkim is named ‘Katley.’
- The Sikkim government has designated the ‘Copper Mahseer,’ also known as ‘Katley,’ as the state fish in order to emphasise the importance of the species and conservation efforts, according to a Fisheries Department official.
- The fish has a high market value and is quite popular among the people of the state.
3. The IRCTC is planning a launch. The first luxury cruise vessel built in India.
- In collaboration with Cordelia Cruises, a private firm, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will launch the country’s first indigenous cruise liner.
- Once the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has subsided and foreign cruises can resume normal operations, bookings can be made through the IRCTC web platform.

5. India climbs two places to 46th place in the Global Innovation Index. 2021
- India has increased its ranking on the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021. (WIPO). This year, India is rated 46th, an increase from last year’s position of 48th.
- Since 2015, when it was placed 81st on the innovation index, the country has been steadily improving. In 2020, India will be among the top 50 countries on the list.
6. UNESCO has designated the ‘Amazon of Europe’ as the world’s first 5-country biosphere reserve.
- According to a statement from the World Wide Fund for Nature, UNESCO named Mura-Drava-Danube (MDD) as the world’s first “five-country biosphere reserve.”
- The Mura, Drava, and Danube biosphere reserves span 700 kilometres of the Mura, Drava, and Danube rivers in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, and Serbia.
7. The world’s longest motorway will connect Delhi and Mumbai in March 2023.
- The government is building the world’s longest motorway, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, according to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
- By March 2023, the eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, a 1,380-kilometer expressway, would be completed.
8. Iran joins the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member.

- Businesspeople, millennials, and others will be able to get co-branded credit cards on the Visa platform thanks to a partnership between HDFC Bank and Paytm.
- The lender will use its position as the premier credit card issuer and its expertise in enhanced customer interaction to offer services to Paytm’s 330 million customers, allowing for deeper penetration in Tier II and III cities and speeding up the adoption of digital payments.
