1. The state of Uttar Pradesh plans to build a “Electronic Park” near Noida.
- The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, has approved a proposal to create a ‘Electronic Park’ near Noida, along the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area, to encourage the electronics industry.
- The park is planned for a 250-acre plot of land near Jewar Airport on the YEIDA.
2. Geeta Samota, a member of the CISF, is the “fastest Indian” to climb two peaks.
- Geeta Samota, a CISF woman official, has set a new record for the fastest Indian woman to climb two peaks in Africa and Russia.
- On August 13, 2021, the 31-year-old Samota successfully scaled Mount Elbrus (5,642 metres) in Russia, followed by Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres) on September 11, 2021. Mt Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest peak, located in Tanzania.
3. The Niti Aayog has launched a new initiative to promote low-pollution delivery trucks.
- Working with consumers and industry, the government think tank Niti Aayog and the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) established a programme to promote zero-pollution delivery vehicles.
- Shoonya is a campaign aimed at speeding up the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the urban delivery segment and raising customer knowledge of the advantages of zero-pollution delivery.
4. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Health, has released the FSSAI’s third State Food Safety Index.
- Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India FSSAI’s 3rd State Food Safety Index to encourage states to work together to provide safe food for citizens. The index measures states’ performance across five food safety categories.
- Gujarat was the highest-ranking state among the major states this year, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Goa was first among the smallest states, followed by Meghalaya and Manipur. Jammu and Kashmir, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and New Delhi topped the list of UTs.

6. Iran joins the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as its ninth member (SCO)
- The presidents of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) eight permanent members have agreed to upgrade the Islamic Republic of Iran’s status from observer to full member.
- For the previous 15 years, Iran has been granted observer status. Iran will be the organization’s ninth major member.
7. The maritime exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ brings together Indian and Indonesian navies.
- The Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy are participating in the ‘Samudra Shakti’ bilateral maritime exercise. The two-day drill will take place near Sunda Strait from September 20 to 22.
- This is the third edition of Samudra Shakti, which aims to promote maritime cooperation and friendship ties between the two fleets in the Indo Pacific.

8. Air Marshal V R Chaudhari has been named the next Chief of the Indian Air Force.
- Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has been named the future Chief of the Air Staff by the government (CAS). Air Chief Marshal R.K.S. Bhadauria, the incumbent CAS, will step down on September 30.
- On December 29, 1982, Air Marshal Chaudhari was commissioned into the Air Force’s fighter stream. He has over 3800 hours of flight time on a variety of fighter and trainer aircraft, including sorties flown during Operation Meghdoot and Operation Safed Sagar.
9. Haryana government appoints Manika Sheokand as Goodwill Ambassador for Water Conservation Campaign VLCC Femina Miss Grand India 2020 Manika Sheokand has been named the Haryana Government’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Water Conservation Campaign.

- Prime Minister Hasina is now in the United States for the United Nations General Assembly’s 76th session (UNGA).
14. There are already ten International Blue Flag beaches in India.
- The Environment Ministry said that two more beaches in India have been received the “Blue Flag” accreditation, a worldwide eco-level designation, bringing the total number of such beaches in the country to ten.
- Kovalam in Tamil Nadu and Eden in Puducherry are the two beaches to earn certification this year.
15. President Ram Nath Kovind bestows the National Florence Nightingale Award for the year 2020.
