1. The Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- On October 20, 2021, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi opened the Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh.
- The Airport Authority of India is responsible for the construction of the airport, which is expected to cost Rs. 260 crore. In addition, it features Uttar Pradesh’s longest runway.
2. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, has launched an upgraded Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi-NCR.
- To improve air-quality management in the Delhi-NCR region, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune has created a new ‘Decision Support System’ (DSS) and updated the existing ‘Air Quality Early Warning System’ (AQEWS).
- The IITM Pune is a self-contained institute that falls under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
3. The CII hosts the “Future Tech 2021” International Conference and Exhibition on Digital Technologies.
- From October 19 to 27, 2021, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will host an international conference and exhibition on digital technologies called “Future Tech 2021- a Journey of Digital Transformation to Technology Adoption and Acceleration.”
- Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, was virtually present at the opening session.

5. Ecuador announces a state of emergency due to a rash of violent crimes.
- On October 18, 2021, Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso proclaimed a 60-day state of emergency in the South American country owing to an increase in violent drug offences.
- President Lasso has blamed drug trafficking and consumption for an upsurge in homicides, home burglaries, vehicle and commodities thefts, and muggings.

6. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched the ‘NTS’ card tokenization platform.
- The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has released the NPCI Tokenization System (NTS) to improve customer security and create a more smooth purchasing experience.
- Tokenization of RuPay cards will be supported via the NPCI Tokenization System (NTS), which will give an alternative to shops keeping card details.
7. NABSanrakshan, a Nabard subsidiary, establishes a Rs 1000 crore credit guarantee fund trust to help FPOs.
- The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has announced the establishment of a Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for FPOs (CGFTFPO), a dedicated fund for extending credit guarantees to FPOs, with a fund size of Rs 1,000 crore.
- NABSanrakshan Trustee Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NABARD, has been appointed as the fund’s trustee.
