About RRB ALP
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is a government organization in India. It was set up in the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), New Delhi in 1998. It has many objectives like Formulation of policy in regard to recruitment processes. It is responsible to monitor the activities of RRBs including expense incurred for recruitment. Railway Recruitment Boards is also responsible to manage the joining of new employees for working in Indian railways.
Railway Recruitment 2018 will be held to recruit candidates to the post of Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians. Railway Recruitment Board conducts this examination every year giving candidates a golden opportunity to fulfil their dreams of joining the prestigious Government Sector. According to Railway Recruitment Notification 2018, a single application is to be submitted (common to all posts – ALP & Technicians) by all candidates who wish to apply for the mentioned posts.
RRB ALP Job Profile
If you are applying or have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot job profile, you must know the work & responsibilities of this post. You have to perform the following duties if you get selected as RRB ALP.
- Help the Loco Driver in tuning the Locomotive.
- Maintaining the productivity of the Locomotive by increasing sectional average speed, punctuality, safety & security.
- Keeping an eye on signal & indicate it further.
- Repairing the Locomotive (if required).
- Noticing track defect through jerk or lurch.
- Performing extraordinary work in case of serious unusual with trains.
Note: A locomotive is a powered railway vehicle used for pulling trains.
Apart from these, Assistant Loco Pilot have to follow all lawful orders of a Loco Pilot. As promised, we will now move to the last part of our article i.e Assistant Loco Pilot career growth.

RRB ALP & Technicians selection will be based on 4 stages as follows:
- First stage CBT
- Second stage CBT (PART-A,PART-B)

- Will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions: in 15 languages (Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu)
- There will be negative marking as for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.
Second Stage of CBT
PART-A
- Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.
- Will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions: bilingual (Hindi/English)
- There will be negative marking as for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.

PART-B
- Qualifying Mark: 35 % (This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible)
- This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET)

Computer Based Aptitude Test (for Candidates who have opted for ALP)
- The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
- There shall be no negative marking in Computer Based AT.
- The ALP merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT
