1. SJVN’s 400 MW solar project in upper Kinnaur has been approved by the MNRE.
◉ The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has given its approval for the state-owned SJVN Limited to build a 400 MW solar park in Upper Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh.
◉ According to SJVN Limited, the ministry has given in-principle clearance for the development of this project under its solar park scheme’Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks. SJVN is currently working on a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Kaza Solar Park in HP, which has a capacity of 880 megawatts (MW).
2. Chhattisgarh signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to develop dung-based power plants and a food irradiation facility.
◉ Chhattisgarh’s government has inked two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to help the state’s agricultural and rural economies.
◉ The first agreement was struck between the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) and the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Trombay, Mumbai, to establish dung-based power plants in gauthans, with BARC providing technical assistance.
◉ The second MoU between the Chhattisgarh Seed Corporation and the Department of Atomic Energy’s Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT) to establish the Food Irradiation Center in Chhattisgarh.
3. To create a Multi-Modal Logistics Ecosystem, NLP will be coupled with ULIP.
◉ The government has declared that the National Logistics Portal (NLP) will be integrated with the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) to improve the efficiency of the Multi-Modal Logistics Ecosystem. It will standardize and expedite procedures relating to overall trade.
◉ ULIP intends to provide an electronic data transfer regime that reduces compliance costs while also fostering confidence in the use of NLP/ULIP by ensuring data integrity and standardizing procedures.

4. In India, Google introduced the ‘Play Pass’ membership service.
◉ In India, Google has announced the introduction of its ‘Play Pass’ subscription service. It will give Android users access to over 1,000 apps and games that are free of advertisements, in-app purchases, and upfront fees.
◉ Play Pass, which is now available in 90 countries, will provide a high-quality and curated collection of 1000+ titles from 59 nations, including many from India, across 41 categories.

5. India’s GDP growth is expected to be 8.9% in 2021-22, according to the NSO.
◉ The second advance estimates of national accounts have been provided by the National Statistical Office (NSO). According to the NSO, GDP growth rates for 2021-22 (FY22) and 2020-21 (FY21) are 8.9% (formerly 9.2% in initial advance estimates) and -6.6 percent (previously -7.3%), respectively, for 2021-22 (FY22) and 2020-21 (FY21).
◉ According to NSO data, the manufacturing sector’s Gross Value Added (GVA) growth remained nearly steady at 0.2 percent in the third quarter of 2021-22, compared to 8.4 percent a year ago.
2. Under the automatic method, the Union Cabinet approved FDI of up to 20% in LIC.
◉ Prior to the massive initial public offering (IPO) of the Life Insurance Corporation of India in mid-March 2022, the Union Cabinet authorised Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of up to 20% under the ‘automatic route in the LIC of India.
◉ Its goal is to get long-term overseas investors to invest in the issuance. An initial public offering (IPO) is the sale of securities (business shares) to the general public on the primary market (usually to institutional investors and retail investors).

6. Sanjay Pandey has been named the new Mumbai Police Commissioner.
◉ A member of the IPS The Maharashtra government has nominated Sanjay Pandey (1986 batch IPS officer) as the new Police Commissioner of Mumbai. He was previously the interim Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra. On February 18, he was fired as acting DGP after the Bombay High Court overturned the state government’s decision to appoint him in April of last year.
◉ He took over from Hemant Nagrale, who was named MD of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation.

7. Prof. Deepak Dhar of IISER is the first Indian to win the Boltzmann Medal.
◉ Prof Deepak Dhar, a well-known Indian physicist and Emeritus Professor at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, will receive the coveted Boltzmann Medal in 2022 for contributions to statistical physics.
◉ The Boltzmann Medal was given to him for the first time, and he was the first Indian to receive it. John J Hopfield of Princeton University will share the award with him. The medal presentation ceremony will take place in Tokyo, Japan, in August 2022 during the StatPhys28 conference.

◉ Annpurna Devi, Union Minister of State for Education, awarded National ICT Awards to 49 teachers from throughout the country.
◉ Teachers are indirectly motivated to use ICT widely and significantly in their classrooms when they receive recognition in the form of a National Award for their use of ICT in Education.
◉ ICT Awardees are also given the task of serving as ICT Ambassadors to help spread the word about ICT in education.

9. Sadia Tariq of India took gold at the Russia Wushu Stars Championship 2022.
◉ At the Moscow Wushu Stars Championship 2022, Indian Wushu player Sadia Tariq won gold in the junior division. Sadia Tariq, 15, is a 15-year-old girl from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
◉ From February 22 to 28, the Wushu Stars Championship will be held in Moscow, Russia. The tournament featured 38 Indian participants, including 23 juniors and 15 seniors.
10. At the Singapore Weightlifting International 2022, India won eight medals.
◉ India won eight medals at the Singapore Weightlifting International 2022, including six gold medals, as well as silver and bronze medals.
◉ Each of the eight Indian lifters who competed in the Singapore International won medals, securing their places in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will take place in July and August.
◉ India qualified 12 weightlifters at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.

12. Week of Janaushadhi Diwas, 1–7 March
◉ From March 1 to March 7, 2022, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers will host the Janaushadhi Diwas Week. The 4th Jan Aushadhi Diwas will be observed on March 7, 2022. “Jan Aushadhi-Jan Upyogi” is the topic of the 4th Janaushadhi Diwas.
