1. Pramod Sawant was re-elected as Chief Minister of Goa for a second term.
◉ Pramod Sawant was unanimously voted as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party in Goa, opening the route for him to win re-election as the state’s chief minister.
◉ Sawant, who took over as Goa’s chief minister after Manohar Parrikar’s unexpected death in March 2019, has been re-elected for a second term.
2. Nagaland became the first state to go paperless after installing the e-Vidhan program.
◉ Nagaland made history when it became the first state legislature in the country to adopt the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) program to go paperless.
◉ For every one of the 60 members, the Nagaland Assembly Secretariat has placed a tablet or e-book on their table. Members can now engage in House sessions using technological devices.
3. AquaMAP Water Management and Policy Centre is established at IIT Madras.
◉ To solve India’s water concerns, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has established a new interdisciplinary water management and policy center called ‘Aquamap.’

4. A virtual summit between India and Australia was held for the second time.
◉ The 2nd India-Australia Virtual Summit was held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.
◉ The summit discussed the two countries’ complex relationships and exchanged perspectives on regional and global trends. In 2020, the inaugural virtual summit will take place on June 4th.
5. Turkmenistan’s President, Serdar Berdymukhamedov, has been elected.
◉ Turkmenistan’s President, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, has been sworn in. Berdimuhamedow succeeds Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, his father and previous president, who took office in 2006 and lasted until 2022.
◉ It should be remembered that Turkmenistan has presidential elections every seven years. Serdar Berdymukhamedov was elected president of the gas-rich country with 97 percent of the vote.

6. The “SmartHub Vyapar program” and the “AutoFirst” app will be launched by HDFC Bank.
◉ To provide small company loans a digital boost, HDFC Bank has announced the launch of the “SmartHub Vyapar program” and the “AutoFirst” app.
◉ The financial institution has onboarded over 7 million merchants and is purchasing 100,000 merchants each month. In three years, HDFC Bank wants to onboard 20 million shops. More than half of the newly onboarded retailers rely only on the app platform to operate.
