1. Surat, Gujarat, was the first city in India to have a steel slag road.’
◉ At the Hazira Industrial Area in Surat, the Diamond City of India, Surat in Gujarat, became India’s first city to acquire a road created out of steel waste (1st ever steel slag road).
◉ The road was constructed entirely of steel slag that had been treated. The project will be built under the Waste to Wealth and Clean India Campaign’s idea.
2. Dr. Pramod Sawant, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and three-time MLA, was sworn–in as Goa’s Chief Minister for the second time at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee stadium in Taleigao in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP guns.
◉ Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sawant, who was first named CM of the coastal State following Manohar Parrikar’s unexpected death in March 2019, along with eight other BJP MLAs who will be Ministers in the new Goa government.

3. Malta’s Prime Minister, Robert Abela, has been re-elected.
◉ Robert Abela, the Prime Minister of Malta, has been sworn in for a second term after his ruling Labour Party gained a majority win in the general election of 2022.
◉ The Labour Party received 55.11 per cent of the overall vote, compared to 41.7 per cent for the Nationalist Party. Since 2013, the Labour Party has won three general elections in a row.
4. According to the UNEP’s Annual Frontier Report, Dhaka is the world’s most noise-polluted metropolis, while Moradabad is the world’s second-most-noise-polluted city.
◉ Bangladesh’s Dhaka is the world’s noisiest metropolis, according to the United Nations Environment Programme’s Annual Frontier Report for 2022.
◉ According to the research, the city’s noise pollution peaked at 119 decibels (dB) in 2021. Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, came in second with 114 decibels of noise pollution.

5. The Reserve Bank of India has unveiled a framework for geo-tagging payment system touchpoints.
◉ Under Section 10 (2) read with Section 18 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a framework for geo-tagging Payment System TouchPoints/Acceptance Infrastructure (Act 51 of 2007).
◉ Banks and non-bank Payment System Operators (PSOs) will use this system to ensure that the availability of payment acceptance infrastructure is properly monitored.
6. DBS Bank India and EaseMyTrip have teamed up to offer a green debit card.
◉ DBS Bank India and EaseMyTrip have teamed up to produce an environmentally friendly green international debit card constructed from 99 per cent recycled polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
◉ Customers who use the Green Debit Card receive exclusive travel-related incentives and prizes in exchange for using environmentally friendly behaviours.
7. SIDBI has authorised a grant of Rs 837 crores to Odisha for the development of MSME clusters.
◉ Under its SIDBI Cluster Development Fund (SCDF), the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has authorised an Rs 837 crore grant to the Government of Odisha to promote and develop 18 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) infrastructure projects in the state.
◉ The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Establishment Corporation will undertake the projects, which include the development of five new MSME parks, the construction of 11 worker’s hostels, and two initiatives to assist MSME infrastructure (IDCO).

8. PVR and INOX Leisure have announced a merger, which will be known as PVR Inox Ltd.
◉ INOX Leisure Ltd and PVR Ltd, two multiplex firms, have announced that they will merge. Inox will own 16.66 per cent of the new company, while PVR will own 10.62 per cent.
◉ The company will be called PVR Inox Limited after the merger requirements are completed. PVR Inox Limited will be led by Ajay Bijli, with Sanjeev Kumar as executive director and Pavan Kumar Jain as non-executive chairman of the consolidated board.

9. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, has been re-elected as President of the Badminton Association of India.
◉ Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, was re-elected as the president of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) without opposition for another four-year term from 2022 to 2026.
◉ Sarma, who took over the reins of BAI in 2017, is also the vice president of Badminton Asia and a member of the Executive Council of the Badminton World Federation.
