1. The Living Root Bridges of Meghalaya have been added to UNESCO’s tentative list of World Heritage Sites.
◉ Jingkieng Jri, or Living Root Bridge, which can be found in over 70 villages across Meghalaya and highlights the socio-cultural, social, and botanical connections between people and nature, has been added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s tentative list of World Heritage Sites (UNESCO).
◉ Villagers cultivate the living root bridges by training the ficus elastica tree on both sides of water bodies over a 10- to the 15-year period, with the roots forming the bridge.
2. The government has set a goal of building 220 new airports by 2025.
◉ Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia revealed that India’s government has set a goal of developing 220 new airports by 2025, citing the Civil Aviation industry as a crucial component of the country’s economy.
◉ “In the next four years, cargo flights for perishable food commodities will be increased by 30%, with 133 new flights,” Scindia said. The government plans to construct 33 new domestic freight ports, 15 new pilot training schools, create more jobs, and put a greater emphasis on the drone industry.
3. Piyush Goyal officially opens the Indian Jewellery Exposition Centre in Dubai.
◉ During his visit to Dubai to participate in the India Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated the Indian Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX) building.
◉ During the introduction of IJEX, the minister urged the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPCexport )’s members to aim for a USD 100 billion annual export objective, up from the existing USD 35 billion.

4. Hurun Global U40 Self-Made Billionaires 2022: India is rated fourth; the United States is first.
◉ Hurun Research Institute has produced the Hurun Global Forty and Under Self-Made Billionaires 2022 report, which lists the world’s self-made billionaires aged forty and under (in US dollars).
◉ According to the Hurun Report 2022, there are 87 Self-Made Billionaires in the globe aged 40 and younger, an increase of 8 from the previous year. With 37 self-made billionaires, the United States tops the list. With 25 billionaires, China comes in second, followed by the United Kingdom (8), India (6), and Sweden (3) in the top five.

5. ICICI and HDFC Bank will buy a 15% interest in IDRCL.
◉ ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have agreed to invest in India Debt Resolution Company Ltd for a 15% interest (IDRCL). The IDRCL was founded in India to manage distressed assets.
◉ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Economic Affairs both gave their assent to the agreement. To clean up problematic loans, IDRCL collaborates with the National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL).
6. India’s GDP growth is expected to be 7.2 per cent in FY23, according to ICRA.
◉ The growth prediction for India’s GDP in 2022-23 (FY23) has been cut to 7.2 per cent by the rating agency ICRA. Previously, this rate was 8%.
◉ The ICRA Ltd. forecasts 8.5 per cent GDP growth for 2021-22 (FY22), which is lower than the official advance estimate of 8.9 per cent from the National Statistical Office.
