1.Assam govt starts ‘Dhanwantari’ scheme for home delivery of medicines
- Assam government has launched a new scheme called “Dhanwantari” for home delivery of medicines. The patients can send their prescriptions over the telephone or inform the health workers and the health department will ensure that it is delivered to them even if it is not on the list of available free medicines. This is the largest outreach programme taken up by any state government at this point in time.

2. Kerala hospital deploys “KARMI-Bot” robot to serve COVID-19 patients
- The government hospital in Ernakulamhere, Kerala has deployed a robot named ‘KARMI-Bot’ to serve COVID-19 patients. The robot will be used to assist patients at the medical college’s COVID-19 isolation ward.

3. Uttar Pradesh Government bans public gathering till June 30
- Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to ban the public gathering till June 30, 2020. The decision was taken by the state government during the Chief Minister’s meeting with chairpersons of 11 committees of the state over the COVID-19 situation.

4. Madhya Pradesh govt launches “Jivan Shakti Yojana” for women
- Madhya Pradesh government has launched the “Jivan Shakti Yojana” for women. Under this scheme, women in urban areas can earn by making masks at home. The government will pay them Rs 11 per mask.

5. Saudi Arabia terminates death penalty for minors
- Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud has abolished the death penalty for crimes committed by minors. The new order states that any individual who has received a death sentence for crimes committed while he or she is a minor will no longer face execution. Instead of the death sentence, the individual will undergo a prison sentence of no longer than 10 years in a juvenile detention facility. The new rule was announced by the president of the Saudi government’s Human Rights Commission, Awwad Alawwad.

6. RBI announces Rs 50,000 crore Special Liquidity Facility for Mutual Funds
- The Reserve Bank of India has announced a Special Liquidity Facility of Rs 50,000 crore for Mutual Funds. This has been done by the central bank in order to ease liquidity pressures on the Mutual Funds. This is a measure taken by the RBI to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19 and preserve financial stability.

10. China names its Mars mission Tianwen-1 ahead of its planned launch this year
- China named its first Mars exploration mission to be launched later this year as Tianwen-1 as it celebrated Space Day to mark the 50th anniversary of the launch of the country’s first satellite Dong Fang Hong-1 in 1970.

11. Veteran photojournalist Ronny Roy passes away
- Veteran sports photojournalist Ronojoy ‘Ronny’ Roy passed away. He was popularly known as ‘Ronny’ and was associated with Bengali daily Aajkaal since the 1990s and covered the ICC World Cup in England last year.
12. Former governor of Bihar & Tripura Devanand Konwar passes away
- Veteran politician and former Governors of Bihar, Tripura, and West Bengal, Devanand Konwar passed away. He was the Governor of Bihar from July 24, 2009, to March 8, 2013. He served as the Governor of Tripura from March 25, 2013, and June 29, 2014. Besides this, he also served as governor (additional charge) of West Bengal from December 2009 to January 2010.
