1. GAIL has started India’s first project of mixing hydrogen into natural gas in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. GAIL (Gas Authority of India Limited) has started India’s first project of mixing hydrogen into natural gas in Indore, Madhya Pradesh (MP).
- Avantika Gas Limited, a joint venture between GAIL and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Indore, MP, would receive the hydrogen blended natural gas.
2. CLAP- Jagananna Swachha Sankalpam Programme of the Andhra Pradesh government
- Andhra Pradesh’s government launched the “Clean Andhra Pradesh (CLAP)- Jagananna Swachha Sankalpam Programme.”
- The CLAP initiative was launched by the government to clean up rural regions, improve sanitation, and waste management through public participation.
3. At the R-Day parade in 2022, Uttar Pradesh was chosen as the best tableau among states/UTs.
- At this year’s Republic Day parade, Uttar Pradesh’s tableau, based on the theme ‘One District, One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham,’ was named the best among 12 States and Union Territories, while the Ministries of Education and Civil Aviation were named joint winners among Ministries and Departments.
- The Navy’s marching unit was awarded best among the Services, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was named best among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and auxiliary forces.
4. The ‘Statue of Equality’ was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi.
- In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the ‘Statue of Equality to the country.
- The 216-foot-tall Statue of Equality honours Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya, who championed equality in all aspects of life, including faith, caste, and creed, in the 11th century.
- The statue is fashioned of ‘panchaloha,’ a five-metal alloy consisting of gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc. It is one of the world’s tallest metallic statues in a sitting position.
5. Karnataka and Ather Energy have struck an agreement to build 1000 fast-charging stations for electric 2-wheelers.
- Karnataka’s government and the Ather Energy and Electric Supply Companies (ESCOMs) have agreed to build 1000 fast-charging stations for electric two-wheelers.
- Electric vehicle (EV) two-wheelers will be able to charge for free at Ather Energy.
6. Three locations in Madhya Pradesh have been renamed by the Centre.
- Hoshangabad Nagar will be renamed “Narmadapuram,” Shivpuri will be renamed “Kundeshwar Dham,” and Babai will be renamed “Makhan Nagar,” according to the Indian government.
- The MP government, led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, proposes renaming the three locations in Madhya Pradesh in 2021. The Ministry of Home Affairs gave their consent to the rebranding (MHA).

- The appointment comes as tensions between the West and Russia continue to rise. Western countries are concerned that Moscow is planning an invasion of Ukraine, which wants to join NATO.

8. According to the CMIE Report, India’s unemployment rate was 6.57 percent in January 2022.
- According to figures from the economic think-tank, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, India’s jobless rate fell drastically to 6.57 percent in January 2022. (CMIE). Since March 2021, this is the lowest rate ever recorded.
- In January, urban India’s unemployment rate was 8.16 percent, while rural India’s rate was 5.84 percent. The unemployment rate in December 2021 reached a four-month high of 7.91 percent, up from 6.97 percent in November.
9. For the internet distribution of life insurance products, LIC has partnered with Policybazaar.
- The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has partnered with Policybazaar.com to offer a comprehensive range of life insurance and investment products to its consumers in India via the internet.
- This is LIC’s first partnership with a private insurance aggregator; previously, the company distributed products mostly through its 1.33 million agents.
10. Kotak General Insurance has teamed up with CARS24 to offer used automobile insurance.
- Cars24 Financial Services Private Limited (CARS24 Financial Services) and Kotak Mahindra General Insurance Company have formed an agreement to provide motor insurance to used automobile customers.
- Used car buyers from Cars24 will have access to Kotak General Insurance’s comprehensive motor insurance coverage as a result of the partnership.
11. A switch operation for Rs. 1,19,701 crores was carried out by the government.
- On January 28, 2022, the Government of India completed a conversion switch transaction with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for an amount of 1,19,701 crores (face value).
- To make the transaction cash neutral, the RBI was bought back assets that were due to maturity in FY 2022-23, FY 2023-24, and FY 2024-25, as well as issuing new securities for similar market value.

12. The director of the Defense Research and Development Laboratory, GA Srinivasa Murthy, has been appointed.
- Senior researcher GA Srinivasa Murthy has been named director of DRDO’s Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad.
- He joined DRDL in 1987 and has made important contributions to several missile complex projects in the areas of structural dynamics, ground resonance testing, electrical integration, and checkout.
13. The new Chairman of the University Grants Commission is M Jagadesh Kumar.
- M Jagadesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), has been named the new Chairman of the University Grants Commission by the Indian government (UGC).
- He has been appointed for a five-year term or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes first. Prof D P Singh resigned on December 7, 2021, when he reached the age of 65, leaving the position of UGC Chairman vacant. In 2018, he was appointed.
14. IndiGo InterGlobe Aviation announced the appointment of its Co-founder Rahul Bhatia as the company’s Managing Director, effective immediately.
- IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, is owned by the corporation. InterGlobe Aviation’s Co-Founder and Promoter is Bhatia.

15. India won the U-19 World Cup for the fifth time, defeating England by four wickets in the final.
- At the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, India defeated England by four wickets to win their sixth U-19 World Cup title.
- India won the trophy for the fifth time, having previously won it in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018. After Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, and Prithvi Shaw, Yash Dhull becomes the fifth Indian skipper to win the trophy.
16. Surfing, skateboarding, and sport climbing have been authorised for participation in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles by the International Olympic Committee.
- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved a request to include surfing, skateboarding, and sport climbing in the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California (US).
- The 2028 Summer Olympics, also known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad or Los Angeles 2028, is a planned event that will take place in Los Angeles, California, from July 21 to August 6, 2028.

19. Greece’s former president Sartzetakis, Christos, died.
- Former Greek President Christos Sartzetakis died in Athens, Greece, at the age of 92, from respiratory failure.
- During the Colonels’ Rule of 1967-1974, he was a Greek jurist and Supreme Court judge who stood up to the militants.
20. The nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar passed away
- Bharat Ratna, India’s nightingale, is a playback singer. After a protracted illness that included covid complications, Lata Mangeshkar died.
- Mangeshkar, who is widely renowned in the Indian film business and is lovingly known as ‘Didi’ (older sister) by all, has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films in thirty-six regional Indian and international languages, notably in Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali.

21. 6 February is the International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation.
- On the 6th of February, the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation is commemorated to raise awareness about the practise of female genital mutilation (FGM). Since 2012, the United Nations has commemorated this day (UN).
