1. PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to preside over a UN Security Council debate.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will moderate a high-level open debate through video conferencing on “Enhancing Maritime Security: A Case for International Cooperation.”
- This would be the first time an Indian Prime Minister presided over a United Nations Security Council meeting.
2. India will host its inaugural Internet Governance Forum in October, which will last three days and begin on October 20.
- The development was reported to the Ministry of Electronics, Information, and Technology. The meeting’s subject this year is Inclusive Internet for Digital India.
3. Deep Ocean Mission would be implemented by the Earth Sciences Ministry with a budget of Rs 4077 crore over five years.
- Deep Ocean Mission will be implemented by the Earth Sciences Ministry over a five-year period with a total expenditure of 4077 million rupees. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology, provided this information.
- According to preliminary estimates, the Central Indian Ocean Basin has 380 million metric tonnes of polymetallic nodules containing copper, nickel, cobalt, and manganese. The worth of these metals is estimated to be around 110 billion dollars. The polymetallic sulphides are believed to contain rare earth minerals such as gold and silver, according to him.
4. The Government has set a target of 175 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, excluding large hydro, by December 2022, according to Minister of New and Renewable Energy and Power R. K. Singh.
- Mr Singh stated that as of June 30th, a total of 98.44 Giga Watt of renewable energy capacity has been installed in the country, including 1.49 Giga Watt of off-grid and decentralised capacity.
5. PM Modi announces a $11,000 million oil palm expedition.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government will invest Rs 11,000 crore on a new mission to establish self-sufficiency in edible oil production at a time when India’s reliance on pricey imports has pushed retail oil prices to new highs.
- Agriculture Ministry officials later stated that the National Mission on Edible Oil-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) will be funded over a five-year period.

- At a public occasion at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Conference Hall, 6, Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi, Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu presented a commemorative postal stamp on ‘Mananiya Chaman Lal.’
- The life and efforts of Mananiya Chaman Lal, a prominent social worker and Sangh Pracharak, are commemorated on this commemorative postage stamp. Mananiya Chaman Lal was born on March 25, 1920, in Sialkot (now Pakistan), and was inspired to work for the benefit of people from a young age.
7. Ayushmann Khurrana announces a campaign to safeguard children from cyberbullying.
- Ayushmann Khurrana, a Bollywood actor, was recently named as a Celebrity Advocate for Unicef’s worldwide campaign EVAC (Ending Violence Against Children), and he aims to raise national awareness about internet safety for children in India.

8. On the latest Global Youth Development Index, India is ranked 122nd.
- The Commonwealth Secretariat in London has produced a new Global Youth Development Index, which ranks India 122nd out of 181 countries in terms of young people’s well-being.
- The top five countries were Singapore, Slovenia, Norway, Malta, and Denmark. Last place went to Chad, the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Niger.

9. From October 1, banks must pay fines if ATMs run out of cash.
- The RBI announced that starting October 1, banks will be fined a flat Rs 10,000 per ATM if their machines run out of cash after the time restriction has expired.
- Non-banking organisations, such as “white label ATM operators,” will also be subject to the penalty if their cash requirements are not met.
10. Under the DAY-NRLM programme, the RBI has increased the amount of collateral-free loans available to Self Help Groups.
- Under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission, the Reserve Bank of India has increased the amount of collateral-free loans available to self-help groups (SHGs) from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (DAY-NRLM).
- The DAY-NRLM is the Government of India’s flagship programme for promoting poverty reduction by strengthening disadvantaged institutions, particularly women’s institutions, and enabling these institutions to access a variety of financial services and livelihoods.
11. The Indian Navy has partnered with IDFC FIRST Bank to provide Honour First Banking solutions.
- The Indian Navy has signed an agreement with the Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) FIRST Bank to launch ‘Honour FIRST,’ a premium banking solution for active and retired Indian Navy personnel.
- The Honour FIRST Defence Account was created with the requirements of the Armed Forces and their veterans in mind.

12. HCL has overtaken Cognizant as the fourth-largest IT firm by market capitalization.
- The Noida-based business’s market value eclipsed Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp to become the fourth-most valuable India-centric information technology (IT) services company, highlighting the problems encountered by the Nasdaq-listed company under CEO Brian Humphries.
- On Nasdaq, Cognizant shares finished at $73.56, giving the business a market valuation of $38.84 billion. More than two-thirds of Cognizant’s almost 300,000 employees are situated in India. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, HCL Technologies shares were trading at $1,061, valuing the company at $39 billion.
13. The NSE IFSC has partnered with BSO to bring global investors together.
- BSO has been named as the first official worldwide recognised connectivity partner by NSE IFSC Ltd.
- According to NSEI IFSC, the cooperation will provide Asian, European, and American trading organisations with additional infrastructure solutions, allowing future traders to have faster, more secure access to the Indian market through BSO’s worldwide network.

15. US-sanctioned Iran’s first Vice President, Mohammad Mokhber, has been appointed.
- Ebrahim Raisi, Iran’s new president, chose the chairman of a prominent state-owned foundation sanctioned by the US as his first vice president.
- Mohammad Mokhber, who has long been rumoured to be the top candidate for the job, has led the Setad foundation, which stands for the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, in honour of the Islamic republic’s founder Ruhollah Khomeini.
16. R K Vishnoi takes over as Chairman and Managing Director of THDCIL State-owned THDCIL announced that R K Vishnoi has assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director with immediate effect. The Uttar Pradesh government and NTPC have formed a joint venture called THDC India Limited (THDCIL).
- Sh. Vishnoi was previously discharging the tasks of Director (Technical) in THDCIL with effect from (w.e.f) 01.09.2019.

17. Every year on August 7th, in honour of Neeraj Chopra, ‘Javelin Throw Day’ will be honoured.
- The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has declared August 7 as “Javelin Throw Day” in India, in honour of Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won India’s first Olympic gold medal in athletics in the Tokyo Olympics.
- This decision is also intended to draw more young people to the sport and prepare champions for a bright future in athletics.

20. Balaji Tambe, a proponent of Ayurveda, has died.
- Dr. Balaji Tambe, an Ayurveda practitioner and proponent of Yoga, died after a brief illness in a private hospital in Pune, according to family members. He was 81 years old when he died.
- Tambe was the creator of “Atmasantulana Village,” a holistic healing centre in Lonavla, and the author of several books on spirituality, yoga, and Ayurveda.
