1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Indian Space Association (ISpA)
- On October 11, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi used videoconferencing to create the Indian Space Association (ISpA).
- The ISpA is a private sector organisation that will serve as the country’s leading industry body for space and satellite enterprises.
2. The ‘Kanniyakumari Clove’ from Tamil Nadu has been GI-tagged, along with two other goods.
- ‘Kanyakumari clove’ is a geographical indicator (GI) for the distinctive clove spice grown in the hills of Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari region.
- Clove production in India totals 1,100 metric tonnes per year, with 1,000 metric tonnes generated in Tamil Nadu each year and 750 metric tonnes produced in Kanyakumari district alone.
3. In Telangana, Bathukamma, a one-of-a-kind floral festival, begins.
- The Bathukamma floral festival has started in Telangana and some areas of Andhra Pradesh.
- The nine-day festival begins on Mahalaya Amavasya (also known as Pitru Amavasya) and concludes on Durgashtami, which falls two days before Dussehra.

4. Projects of the FICCI India’s GDP growth is expected to be 9.1% in 2021-22.
- Based on the current FICCI Economic Outlook Survey, the industry association FICCI has revised upward the growth prediction for the Indian economy in 2021-22 to 9.1 percent.
- This was previously anticipated at 9% in July 2021.
5. The UNDP has released the report on the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for 2021.
- On October 7, 2021, the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Report for 2021 was released. The UNDP and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative collaborated on the report (OPHI).
- The research estimates multidimensional poverty in 109 developing countries (based on data from surveys conducted between 2009 and 2019/2020): 26 low-income countries, 80 middle-income countries, and three high-income countries.

6. David Card, Joshua Angrist, and Guido Imbens, three American economists, have been awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for the year 2021.
- The Nobel Prize in Economics for 2021 was split into two halves, with the first half going to David Card “for his empirical contributions to labour economics.”
- Joshua D. Angrist and Guido W. Imbens shared the second half of the prize “for their methodological contributions to the investigation of causal linkages.”
7. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy receives the Aryabhata Award for 2021 from the Astronautical Society of India.
- On October 9, 2021, the Astronautical Society of India presented Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO, with the renowned Aryabhata Award for 2021. (ASI).
- Dr. G Satheesh Reddy has been recognised for his significant contributions to the advancement of astronautics in India during the course of his life.
8. B Gopal, a Telugu director, has been nominated for the Satyajit Ray Award.
- Bejawada Gopal, a well-known Telugu director, has been named the fourth Satyajit Ray Award winner for his overall contribution to Indian cinema.
- The Satyajit Ray Film Society in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, presents the prize.
