1. From Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi opens Ujjwala 2.0.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi began Ujjwala 2.0 (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana – PMUY) by giving people LPG connections via video conferencing in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.
- This programme began in 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, on the land of Mangal Pandey, a freedom fighter pioneer.
2. India’s installed renewable energy capacity surpasses 100 GW on “Landmark Day.”
- India’s total installed renewable energy generation capacity has surpassed 100 GW, placing it fourth globally in terms of installed renewable energy capacity.
- By 2022, the nation has set an ambitious goal of 175 GW (1,75,000 MW) of renewable energy capacity. Furthermore, by 2030, the country wants to have 450 GW of renewable energy capacity.
3. In Ladakh, the Air Force constructs one of the world’s highest mobile ATC towers.
- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has constructed one of the world’s tallest transportable air traffic control (ATC) towers at the Advanced Landing Ground in Nyoma, Ladakh. Fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters operating in eastern Ladakh are under the jurisdiction of the ATC.
- Meanwhile, India is investigating a number of alternatives for building airfields in eastern Ladakh, including Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO), Fukche, and Nyoma, all of which are only a few minutes away from China’s Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Air Force has also deployed Igla man-portable air defence missiles to counter any aerial invasion by hostile aircraft.
4. In Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has launched “faceless” transportation services.
- People will be able to apply for and obtain numerous transportation-related documents such as registration certificates, as well as complete a learner’s driving licence exam, all from the convenience of their own homes and without having to visit a motor licencing office (MLO).
- As a result, Delhi will be the first state in the country to put all transportation-related services online, allowing residents to save time and money by not having to visit MLOs.
5. Chhattisgarh is the first state to recognise forest resource rights in a city.
- With the recognition of rights of people of Dhamtari district over 4,127 hectares of forest, Chhattisgarh became the first state to recognise Community Forest Resource Rights in an urban region. Within the main region of the tiger reserve, community resource rights over 5,544 hectares of forest were also recognised.
- The Community Forest Resource Right granted by the Forest Rights Act of 2006 allows gramme sabhas to protect, regenerate, conserve, or manage any forest resources used by the entire community or village.
6. The Tamil Nadu government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Germany to purchase 2,500 buses for public transportation.
- The Tamil Nadu government is in talks with Germany to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to buy 2,500 public buses.
- At least nine lakh women in the state have benefited from the free transport scheme, according to Transport Minister Raja Kannappan. The Minister stated that the Transport Department has received an increased allocation of 150 crore rupees.
7. The Uttar Pradesh government has renamed Action aboard the Kakori kand to Kakori train.
- According to UP government officials, the ‘Kakori Kand’ has been renamed to ‘Kakori Train action’ because the word ‘Kand’ connotes a sense of insult to this episode during India’s independence movement.
- The Uttar Pradesh government commemorated the anniversary of the ‘Kakori Train action’ under the programme ‘Chauri Chaura Mahotsav,’ which will complete 100 years in 2022, as India celebrates ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75 years of independence.

8. For JLG funding, NABARD signs an agreement with SBI and J&K Grameen Bank.
- Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) on Financing of 1000 Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) were signed and exchanged between NABARD, J&K, State Bank of India (SBI), and Jammu & Kashmir Gramin Bank in order to enhance credit flow in the UT of J&K. (JKGB).
- The major goal of signing MoUs is to increase credit flow to tenant farmers/oral lessees/sharecroppers, SF/MF, and other borrowers who may not have valid title to their land holdings.
9. With a $90 million funding round, CoinDCX becomes India’s first crypto unicorn.
- With a $90-million (Rs 668-crore) series-C fundraising round, CoinDCX has become the first Indian cryptocurrency exchange to join the unicorn club. B Capital, founded by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, raised the money.
- CoinDCX’s valuation has risen to $1.1 billion (Rs 8,150 crore) as a result of this funding round, making it the first Indian cryptocurrency exchange to achieve unicorn status. Returning investors like Coinbase Ventures, Polychain Capital, Block.one, and Jump Capital, as well as other senior investors, are participating in this round of fundraising.
10. For commodity financing, Arya, an agritech firm, has partnered with the State Bank of Mauritius-India.
- Agricultural technology start-up For commodity financing, Arya has partnered with SBM Bank India. SBM Bank India is a subsidiary of the SBM Group, which is headquartered in Mauritius. The lender is based in Mumbai and has offices in the country’s top six metropolitan areas.
- Arya offers comprehensive post-harvest services. Its platform assists users in selecting supplementary services such as warehouse management, financing, quality testing, storage protection, and connecting produce to buyers.
11. A secondary market for corporate loans has been established by ten of the world’s largest banks.
- For the first time, ten major lenders, including the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank, have teamed up to create an online platform for secondary market trading of corporate loans.
- On the advice of the Reserve Bank of India’s Task Force on the Development of Secondary Market for Corporate Loans, the Secondary Loan Market Association (SLMA) was founded. Its members include Kotak Mahindra Bank, Deutsche Bank, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, Axis Bank, and HDFC Bank.

12. The NPPA has appointed Kamlesh Kumar Pant as its chairman.
- Under a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle, the Union Cabinet named Kamlesh Kumar Pant, a 1993-batch IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, as the new head of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).
- Shubhra Singh, a senior bureaucrat who was appointed in 2018, currently leads the apex pharmaceutical pricing authority. According to a Department of Personnel and Training order, Singh, who was replaced by Pant, has been returned to her cadre state of Rajasthan.
13. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Union Home Secretary, has been given a one-year extension.
- According to an official order from the Personnel Ministry, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla was given a one-year extension beyond his current tenure, which was set to finish next week.
- In August 2019, Bhalla, an Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer from the 1984 batch, was appointed as the Home Secretary.

15. Pakistan successfully fires a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile in a test launch.
- Pakistan successfully test-fired the Ghaznavi, a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile capable of striking targets up to 290 kilometres away, according to the army.
- The successful training launch of the ballistic missile Ghaznavi was intended to ensure Army Strategic Forces Command’s operational preparedness as well as re-validate technical parameters of the weapon system.

18. Gopal Bhengra, a former international hockey player, has died.
- Gopal Bhengra, a former international hockey player, died after a protracted illness. He was 75 years old at the time. Bhengra was a member of the Indian team that competed in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.
- In the World Cup, he had faced Argentina and Pakistan. Bhengra, who had formerly played for Mohun Bagan, had endured several challenges after retirement and had even taken up stone crushing as a source of income.
