1. Rail cargo traffic between India and Nepal has increased significantly.
- India and Nepal have agreed to modify the 2004 India-Nepal Rail Services Agreement by signing a Letter of Exchange (LoE) (RSA). The amended agreement permits all approved cargo train operators to use the Indian railway network to transport Nepalese container and other freight — both bilaterally between India and Nepal and from third-country ports to Nepalese ports.
- Public and private container trains, vehicle freight train operators, special freight train operators, and any other operator allowed by Indian Railways are among the authorised cargo train operators.
2. At Delhi University, the ICCR will establish the ‘Bangabandhu Chair.’
- A ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ will be established at Delhi University to promote a better understanding of Bangladeshi developments. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Delhi University in Dhaka signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish this Chair at Delhi University.
- The Chair will focus on areas like as Anthropology, Buddhist Studies, Geography, History, Modern Indian languages, especially Bangla, Music, Fine Arts, Political Science, International Relations, and Sociology, as well as the two countries’ shared legacy.
3. Assam will establish a new department dedicated to indigenous faith and culture.
- Assam’s Cabinet has ordered the establishment of an independent department to safeguard the state’s “religion, culture, and traditions of tribes and indigenous populations.”
- The new department would ensure that the state’s indigenous people are able to maintain their faith and traditions while also receiving the necessary support.
4. PM Modi receives the first copy of Guru Gobind Singh’s Ramayana.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the first copy of Late Baljit Kaur Tulsi’s book The Ramayan of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on July 9, 2021. This book was published by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
- In the presence of his daughter Japna Tulsi and granddaughter Mukti Tulsi, KTS Tulsi presented the book to PM Modi.
5. A draught bill in the state of Uttar Pradesh proposes a two-child policy.
- Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has announced a population policy aimed at encouraging couples to have no more than two children. Adityanath stated that population management is linked to popular awareness and poverty, and that every community has been considered in the Population Policy 2021-2030.
- Uttar Pradesh’s health minister, Jai Pratap Singh, stated that the state wants to achieve stability by 2050 and that the administration is working to keep the population growth rate below 2.1 percent.

- After winning the parliamentary election, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was re-elected for a second five-year term. At the general elections on June 21, 2021, the Prosperity Party received 410 seats from 436 parliamentary electoral constituencies.
- Since April 2, 2018, Abiy Ahmed has been the 4th Prime Minister of Ethiopia’s Federal Democratic Republic.

- Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal and a modern-day legend, won the Euro 2020 Golden Boot as the tournament’s highest scorer.
- Ronaldo won the title despite just playing four games and scoring five goals.
10. Mahmudullah, a Bangladeshi all-rounder, has announced his retirement from Test cricket.
- Mohammad Mahmudullah Riyad, a Bangladeshi all-rounder cricketer, has declared his retirement from Test cricket. In the middle of a one-off match against Zimbabwe, he declared his retirement from Test cricket.

11. Devon Conway and Sophie Ecclestone have won the ICC Player of the Month award.
- Sophie Ecclestone, a left-arm spinner for England, has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June. After Tammy Beaumont, who won the title in February 2021, she is the second English woman to win the title.
- Devon Conway of New Zealand was named ICC Player of the Month for June in the men’s category. After an incredible debut month in Test cricket, he became the first New Zealand player to win the accolade.
12. N N Pillai, a journalist, has been awarded the BKS Literary Award.
- Omchery N N Pillai, a journalist and dramatist, has been chosen for the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) Literary Award for 2021. The award was presented by BKS president P V Radhakrishna Pillai, general secretary Varghese Karackal, and literary wing secretary Firoz Thiruvathra.
- M Mukundan, a novelist, presided over the jury. The jury included literary critic Dr. K S Ravikumar, writer and Kerala Chief Secretary Dr. V P Joy, and Radhakrishna Pillai. The prize includes a monetary prize of $50,000 as well as a citation recognising the achievement.

- Shivam Shankar Singh and Anand Venkatanarayanan have written a new book called “The Art of Conjuring Alternate Realities: How Information Warfare Shapes Your World.” HarperCollins is the publisher of the book.
- The book is about human history and how various hierarchies, such as the military, colonialism, mega-corporations, and now information, have shaped societal control.

15. IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation (IITM-PTF) and Sony India Software Centre Pvt Ltd have teamed up to hold a national hackathon dubbed “SAMVEDAN 2021 – Sensing Solutions for Bharat.”
- The organisation hopes that by hosting this hackathon, residents will be inspired to employ IoT Sensor Board to solve social problems in India. It is based on the SPRESENSETM Board from Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation, which participants can use for this challenge.
