1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks at the 28th National Human Rights Commission Foundation Day event.
- On October 12, 2021, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered a video message to the 28th NHRC Foundation Day function in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the NHRC chairperson.
- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory public body established on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993, for the promotion and protection of marginalised people’s human rights and dignity.
2. The Delhi government has launched the ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ programme for kids in classes IX to XII.
- The Delhi government has introduced a mentorship programme named ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ for pupils in state government schools in Classes IX to XII.
- Students will be advised for 10-15 minutes everyday by professionals and academicians from throughout the country on subjects ranging from career choices to teenage-related worries as part of the ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ initiative.
3. UNESCO publishes India’s State of Education Report for 2021: There is no class since there is no teacher.
- On World Teacher’s Day, October 5, 2021, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) released the 2021 State of the Education Report (SOER) for India, titled “No Teacher, No Class.”
- This is the third edition of UNESCO New Delhi’s annual flagship State of Education Report. The Report’s content was created by an expert team of academics at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, with the help of UNESCO New Delhi.
4. Haryana prohibits government personnel from taking part in politics and elections.
- Government personnel in Haryana are not allowed to participate in politics or elections. In this regard, the office of the chief secretary has issued a notification. Any breach of the directive, according to a government spokesperson, will result in prompt and severe disciplinary punishment.
- According to the announcement, no government employee shall be a member of a political party or organisation that engages in politics. They should also refrain from assisting or assisting any political action or movement.
5. By March 2024, the government plans to open 10,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras.

6. INS Ranvijay and INS Satpura take part in the Bay of Bengal’s Multilateral Maritime Ex Malabar Phase II.
- In the Bay of Bengal, the INS Ranvijay (D55) and INS Satpura (F48) are engaged in the Multilateral Maritime Ex Malabar Phase II. USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Japanese Helicopter Carrier JS Kaga (DDH 184), USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), USS Stockdale (DDG 106), HMAS Sirius (O266), HMAS Ballarat FFH 155) and JS Marasame are among the nine ships participating in the exercise (DD 101).
- Advanced surface and anti-submarine warfare drills, seamanship evolution, and weapon firings are all part of the exercise’s second phase.
7. The world’s first autonomous, driverless train has been launched in Germany.
- In the city of Hamburg, Germany’s Deutsche Bahn and industrial conglomerate Siemens revealed the world’s first automated, driverless train, claiming it to be more punctual and energy efficient than regular trains.
- Four of these trains will join the S-Bahn rapid urban rail network in the northern metropolis and begin carrying passengers in December, utilising existing rail infrastructure.

8. Unity Small Finance Bank receives a banking licence from the RBI.
- Unity Small Finance Bank Ltd (USFBL), a joint venture between Centrum Financial Services Ltd (CFSL) and Resilient Innovations Private Limited (BharatPe), has been given a banking licence by the Reserve Bank of India to operate an SFB business in India.
- It is the first time that two partners have come together to form a bank on an equal footing. The proposed business model is based on collaboration and open architecture, with all stakeholders working together to provide a seamless digital experience.
9. Ezetap and Axis Bank have teamed up to provide ‘My Vyappar’ to the retail market.
- Ezetap, a leader in digital payments, has partnered with Axis Bank, which has been at the forefront of driving innovation in retail acquisition, to bring My Vyappar to Indian retailers.

14. Indian shooters win 43 medals at the ISSF Junior World Championships, including 17 gold.
- From September 27 to October 10, 2021, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun was held in Lima, Peru.

18. Nedumudi Venu, a national award-winning Malayalam actor, has died at the age of 73.
- Kesavan Venugopal Nair, widely known by his stage name Nedumudi Venu, a veteran Malayalam actor, has died. He was 73 years old at the time.
- Venu began his career in theatre before moving on to film acting, directing, and screenplay. In 1978, he made his acting debut in the G Aravindan-directed drama film ‘Thampu.’
