1. Uttarakhand has opened India’s largest open-air fernery.
- On September 12, 2021, India’s largest open-air fernery opened at Ranikhet, Uttarakhand.
- The new institute will have two goals: ‘conservation of fern species’ and ‘raising awareness about their ecological function and encouraging more research.’
2. Telangana has started the ‘Medicine from the Sky’ initiative, which will use drones to distribute medications and vaccines.
- Jyotiradtiya Scindia, the Union Civil Aviation Minister, has inaugurated a Telangana programme called “Medicine from the Sky,” in which drugs and vaccines would be supplied by drones.
- Telangana’s government has launched the initiative in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, NITI Aayog, and HealthNet Global (Apollo Hospitals).
3. Chhattisgarh has launched a ‘Millet Mission’ to become India’s millet hub.
- Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the ‘Millet Mission,’ predicting that the state will become the country’s millet hub in the future.
- He signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR) in Hyderabad and the Collectors of 14 districts in the state, including Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Balrampur, Koriya, Surajpur, and Jashpur.
4. IIT Kanpur and the Indian Air Force have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for academic collaboration.
- The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the Indian Air Force have teamed up to develop strong technologies in the field of aerospace technology through academic and research collaboration.
- The goal of the collaboration is to establish long-term relationships for academic and research-based exchanges, as well as technical information exchange, in order to promote knowledge growth and breakthrough breakthroughs in the field of aerospace technology.

7. India and Portugal Sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the Recruitment of Indian Workers
- The signing of an agreement between India and Portugal on the recruitment of Indian citizens to work in that European country was approved by the Union Cabinet.
- The agreement will establish an institutional system for India and Portugal to cooperate together on sending and receiving Indian employees.

8. For the first time, Amazon has partnered with Kuvera to offer wealth management services.
- Amazon, the world’s most valuable company, will offer wealth management services in India for the first time. Amazon Pay, the company’s fully owned subsidiary, has partnered with Kuvera, a homegrown financial advice services firm, to provide wealth management services to India’s 50 million clients.
- In India, Amazon Pay has made a name for itself in the payments and credit industry. This announcement comes shortly after Google Pay announced that it will offer fixed deposits to its Indian users.

10. Gujarat’s new Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, has been sworn in.
- Bhupendra Patel, a first-time legislator, was sworn in as Gujarat’s 17th chief minister a day after the BJP leadership declared his candidacy.
- Bhupendra Patel, a first-time MLA from Ahmedabad’s Ghatlodia constituency, received nearly 1.17 lakh votes in the 2017 Gujarat assembly election. Bhupendra Patel is likely to lead the Gujarat BJP into the forthcoming 2022 Gujarat assembly elections following his appointment as chief minister.

- While Djokovic fell short of being the third player, after Don Budge and Rod Laver, to win all four majors in the same year, Medvedev capped off a spectacular US Open run.
13. Daniel Ricciardo will win the 2021 Formula One Italian Grand Prix.
- On September 12, 2021, Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren, Australian-Italian) won the Formula One Italian Grand Prix 2021. This is McLaren’s first victory in nine years.
- In the F1 race, Lando Norris finished second and Valtteri Bottas finished third.

14. For a conservation project on Powai Lake, a Mumbai teen has won the global ‘Young Eco-Hero’ award.
- In appreciation of his efforts to overcome difficult environmental challenges, a 12-year-old environmental activist from Mumbai has been awarded a 2021 International Young Eco-Hero. For his initiative Conservation and Rehabilitation of Powai Lake, Ayaan Shankta took third place in the 8-14 age category.
- He is one of 25 young environmental activists from around the world named a 2021 International Young Eco-Hero by Action For Nature (AFN), an award that honours eco-conscious youngsters aged 8 to 16 who are taking critical initiatives to overcome difficult environmental challenges.
