1. PFC Ltd, a state-owned company, has been granted “Maharatna” status by the Centre.
- On October 12, 2021, the Indian government granted the state-owned Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC) ‘Maharatna’ status.
- PFC will gain more operational and financial autonomy as a result of its new status.
2. Vivekananda Global University in Jaipur has opened India’s first Atal Community Innovation Center.
- Vivekananda Global University in Jaipur, Jagatpura, has opened the Atal Community Innovation Center.
- It will be the first centre in India to be established by the Indian government, the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), and the National Institute of Technology (NITI Aayog). VGU is quite proud of this achievement.
3. The Chief Minister of Manipur has launched the “Chief Minister’s Health for All” scheme.
- Chief Minister N. Biren Singh of Manipur launched the “Chief Minister’s Health for All” initiative. Door-to-door health screenings will be conducted throughout the state, and patients will receive free Jan Aushadhi medicines for primary health care as part of the scheme.
- Patients with severe and chronic illnesses will also be issued Chief Minister Gi Hakchel Gi Tengbal (CM Health Care Scheme) and Ayushman Bharat health cards, if they are eligible. For the newly launched programme, the Chief Minister also gave ASHA Plus gadgets, cellphones, and tablets to CHOs, Nurses, and ASHA employees.

- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched PM Gati Shakti-National Master Plan at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on October 13, 2021, with the goal of achieving holistic and integrated infrastructure development in the country.
- The PM Gati Shakti-National Master Plan, worth Rs 100 lakh crore, intends to offer multi-modal connectivity to the country’s economic zones.

- Saraswat Bank has partnered with Axis Securities to provide its customers with a 3-in-1 account that includes investment services.
- Saraswat Bank said the facility will combine the co-operative bank’s savings bank account with Axis Securities’ demat and trading account, which is a subsidiary of Axis Bank.
9. ADB Increases Climate Finance Ambition to $100 Billion for 2019–2030
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that from 2019 to 2030, it will increase its objective to provide climate finance to its developing member countries by $20 billion to $100 billion.
- In 2018, the ADB pledged to ensuring that at least 75% of its entire operations support climate action, and that its own climate finance resources equal $80 billion by 2030.
10. RBI authorises IndusInd Bank to collect direct and indirect taxes.
- The Reserve Bank of India has authorised IndusInd Bank to collect direct and indirect taxes on behalf of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, respectively.
- Customers of IndusInd Bank will soon be able to pay their direct and indirect taxes via the bank’s cutting-edge digital platforms, including as ‘Indusnet,’ its net banking platform, and ‘IndusMobile,’ its mobile banking app. Customers can also walk into their nearest branch to take use of this service.
11. Micro ATMs are being launched by Kotak Mahindra Bank in India.
- Micro ATMs have been launched by Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd (KMBL) across the country.
- Customers having a debit card from any bank can use a Kotak Micro ATM for basic banking services including cash withdrawals and account balance checks. Micro ATMs are small handheld machines that are a miniature version of an ATM.

12. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and AIC STPINEXT Initiatives (STPINEXT) have inked a tripartite non-financial MoU with SINE-IIT Bombay for fostering entrepreneurship and developing tech start-ups.
- The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with SINE-IIT Bombay will expand the relationship in order to leverage the latter’s skills and knowledge to help companies incubated at STPI Motion in Pune develop and gain experience in order to build up their businesses.
13. Power Finance Corporation has been given Maharatna status by the government.
- The government of India has given the state-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC) the renowned ‘Maharatna’ designation, providing it greater operational and financial autonomy, according to the firm.
- The award of ‘Maharatna’ status to PFC will provide the board of directors more power when making financial choices.

16. Amy Hunter of Ireland becomes the world’s youngest ODI century.

- American Indian Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is one of the corporate executives to receive the renowned C K Prahlad award for Global Business Sustainability Leadership this year.
- Nadella, along with Microsoft’s president and vice chair Brad Smith, chief financial officer Amy Hood, and chief environment officer Lucas Joppa, received the prestigious award for their collaborative leadership in transforming Microsoft into a carbon negative company by 2030 and eliminating all of the company’s historical emissions by 2050.
