1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared August 14 to be “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.”
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named August 14 as ‘Division Horrors Remembrance Day,’ or ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas,’ in honour of people’s efforts and sacrifices during the country’s 1947 partition.
- The purpose of the day is to motivate us to rid the world of the poisons of prejudice, hatred, and ill will, as well as to strengthen unity, social peace, and human sensibility.
2. TAPAS, an e-study platform for social defence, is launched by the Ministry of Social Justice.
- TAPAS (Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services) is an online platform developed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to give filmed lectures/courses and e-study material in the subject of social defence.
- Drug (Substance) Abuse Prevention, Geriatric/Elderly Care, Care and Management of Dementia, Transgender Issues, and a comprehensive course on Social Defense Issues are currently available through TAPAS.
3. MoHUA introduces the ‘SonChiraiya’ brand and logo for urban Self-Help Group (SHG) products.
- The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched ‘SonChiraiya,’ a brand and logo for the marketing of SHG products in urban areas.
- The ministry has negotiated MoUs with e-Commerce portals like Amazon and Flipkart to make urban SHG products more popular, with an underlying narrative of women empowerment.
4. Dr. Jitendra Singh launched “IndiGau,” India’s first Cow Genomic Chip, to help save India’s indigenous cattle breeds.
- Dr. Jitendra Singh unveiled the ‘IndiGau’ chip today. It is India’s first Cattle Genomic Chip, designed to preserve pure breeds of indigenous cattle such as Gir, Kankrej, Sahiwal, and Ongole.
- Scientists at the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NAIB), Hyderabad, an autonomous agency under the Department of Biotechnology, developed the IndiGau chip.

8. The World Health Organization (WHO) has established the SAGO Advisory Group to research the emergence of future emerging viruses with pandemic potential.
- The International Scientific Advisory Group on Origins of Novel Pathogens, or SAGO, has been established by the World Health Organization (WHO).
- SAGO’s mission will be to thoroughly investigate the emergence of future emerging viruses with pandemic potential, and to advise WHO on their evolution.

9. Mauritius will receive a $100 million loan from Exim Bank to purchase defence equipment.
- According to a notification from the Reserve Bank of India, the Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has agreed to provide a USD 100 million line of credit to Mauritius for the procurement of defence equipment from India.
- India shall export qualifying goods and services to Mauritius under the terms of the agreement. The interest rate on a line of credit or a soft loan is nominal.
10. The Australian Small Finance Bank has launched a new brand campaign called ‘BADLAAV Humse Hai.’
- The AU Small Finance Bank has launched a massive brand campaign dubbed “BADLAAV Humse Hai.”
- This is AU Bank’s first integrated marketing communication campaign since its founding, a creative project that will highlight the bank’s commitment to innovation.
11. Karnala Nagari Sahakari Bank, based in Raigad, has had its licence revoked by the RBI.
- The Reserve Bank of India has revoked Karnala Nagari Sahakari Bank Limited’s licence in Maharashtra. The bank has been ordered to halt all operations as of August 13th, according to the RBI.
- According to the Reserve Bank of India, Karnala Nagari Sahakari Bank’s licence was revoked due to insufficient capital and earning potential, and its continued operation would have harmed depositors.

14. India wins three gold medals in compound events at the World Archery Youth Championships.
- In the ongoing World Youth Championships in Wroclaw, India won gold medals in compound cadet women’s and men’s events, as well as mixed team events.
