3. Varanasi will be the first city in India to introduce ropeway service to public transportation.
- Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi will be the first city in India to adopt ropeway services for public transportation. Varanasi will be the third city in the world to employ ropeway for public transportation, following Bolivia and Mexico City.
- The ropeway project will cost Rs 424 crore in total. In approximately 15 minutes, a total distance of 4.2 kilometres will be covered.

6. India drops to 101st place in the 2021 Global Hunger Index; Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal are in second and third place, respectively.
- India has slid to 101st place out of 116 nations in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021, down from 94th place in 2020, and is now behind Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. With a GHI score of less than five, eighteen nations shared the top spot, including China, Brazil, and Kuwait, according to the Global Hunger Index website, which analyses hunger and malnutrition.
- The extent of hunger in India, according to the report, is “alarming.” It was written by Concern Worldwide, an Irish charity organisation, and Welt Hunger Hilfe, a German organisation.
7. The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a Global Roadmap to End Meningitis by 2030.

8. Unity SFB receives a small finance bank licence from the RBI.
- Unity Small Finance Bank was given a small finance bank licence by the Reserve Bank of India to a consortium of Centrum Financial Services Limited (Centrum) and Resilient Innovations Private Limited (BharatPe).

- Satya Nadella, an Indian-American Microsoft CEO, got the renowned C K Prahlad award for Global Business Sustainability Leadership for the year 2021, among three other Microsoft executives.
- Apart from Nadella, the prize for Global Business Sustainability Leadership was shared by Microsoft’s President and Vice-Chair Brad Smith, Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood, and Chief Environment Officer Lucas Joppa.
