National
1. PM distributes $1,625 million to women’s self-help organisations.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allocated Rs. 1625 crore in capitalization assistance funds to over 4 lakh Self Help Groups (SHG).
- He also released Rs. 25 crore as seed money for 7500 SHG members under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries’ PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, as well as Rs. 4.13 crore to 75 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) being promoted under the Mission.
2. By 2024, the government plans to provide fortified rice to the poor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi says
- In an effort to combat malnutrition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government will fortify rice provided to the needy through various initiatives such as Midday Meal. ”Poor children’s growth is hampered by malnutrition and a lack of micronutrients.
- Modi, who flew the tricolour at the ancient Red Fort before the address, stated that by 2024, all rice distributed under government programmes will be fortified, whether through ration stores or the Midday Meal programme.
3. Delhi AIIMS is India’s first hospital to include a fire station on campus.
- According to AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi has become the first hospital in India to contain a fire station on its campus.
- He made the news at a gathering to commemorate India’s 75th Independence Day, saying the AIIMS had partnered with the Delhi Fire Service for the project.
4. Narendra Tomar, Minister of Agriculture, inaugurates the world’s second-largest repaired gene bank.
- The world’s second-largest rebuilt state-of-the-art National Gene Bank was launched at the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), Pusa in New Delhi, by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar.
- The restored state-of-the-art National Gene Bank serves as a germplasm storage facility, allowing seeds to be stored for years at minus 20 degrees Celsius.
5. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel hailed citizens on the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence and announced the construction of four new districts in the state, as well as the development of parks specifically for women in all districts.
- Four new districts, named Mohla-Manpur, Sakti, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, and Manendragarh, will be developed as part of the decentralisation process, as will 18 new tehsils.

6. To empower craftsmen, the HCL Foundation has launched the ‘My e-Haat’ platform.
- HCL Foundation, the company’s corporate social responsibility arm, has established an online site called “My e-Haat” to empower artists and strengthen the country’s handicraft value chain. It said that more than 30 partners from eight states are currently listed on the platform, with over 600 products, and that more will be added from throughout the country by the end of the year.
- My E-Haat venture will be a one-of-a-kind (A2C) model in which artists will directly contact with customers in the coming years.

7. Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Hussein resigns as the country’s political turmoil worsens.
- Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysia’s prime minister, has resigned after months of political upheaval resulted in the loss of his majority.
- Mr. Muhyiddin’s resignation comes less than 18 months after taking office, and it will throw the country into yet another crisis as the pandemic worsens.
8. Zambia’s new president, Hakainde Hichilema, has been named.
- The electoral commission announced that opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema had defeated incumbent Edgar Lungu in Zambia’s presidential election, with the exception of one constituency.
- Out of a total of 7 million registered voters, Hichilema received 2,810,777 votes, while Lungu came in second with 1,814,201 votes.

9. Neeraj Chopra is ranked second in the world in athletics.
- According to the current World Athletics Men’s Javelin Rankings, India’s javelin ace Neeraj Chopra has climbed 14 places to become World No. 2.
- Neeraj won a historic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, guiding India to its best-ever Olympic haul of seven medals – one gold, two silvers, and four bronzes.
10. Raunak Sadhwani of India wins the Spilimbergo Open Chess Tournament.
- Raunak Sadhwani, a young Indian Grandmaster, won the 19th Spilimbergo Open chess tournament with seven points after nine rounds.
- Sadhwani (Elo 2579), a 15-year-old from India, was undefeated in the tournament, winning five games and drawing four. The Indian, who was seeded fourth, faced five GMs in the event, beating Oskar Wieczorek of Poland and drawing his games against the other four.
11. Unmukt Chand, the former India captain who won the U-19 World Cup, has announced his retirement to play in the USA T20 League.
- Unmukt Chand, the former captain of the India U-19 World Cup team, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in India.
- Because he wants to participate in the United States T20 League, the 28-year-old Delhi-based player has decided to stop his cricket career in India. The BCCI does not allow its registered players to compete in international T20 competitions.
12. Pune-based Harshit Raja becomes India’s 69th Chess Grandmaster
- The 20-year-old Chess player Harshit Raja from Pune, Maharashtra has become the 69th Grandmaster of India in Chess.
- Harshit achieved the feat of becoming the GM on August 03, 2021, at Biel Masters Open 2021 where he drew his game against Dennis Wagner to get his final GM norm with one round to spare.

13. In 2021, President Ram Nath Kovind will bestow 144 gallantry awards.
- On the occasion of Independence Day 2021, President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has approved 144 gallantry medals for armed forces, police, and paramilitary personnel.
- In addition, President Kovide approved the awarding of 28 Mention-in-Despatches to army troops for their notable services in various military actions.

Obituary News
15. Chinmoy Chatterjee, a former India defender, has died.
- Chinmoy Chatterjee, a former India defender who played for the three Maidan heavyweights during his prime in the 1970s and 1980s, died of cardiac failure at his Khardah home. He was 68 years old at the time.
- At the 1978 Asian Games in Bangkok, he was a part of the Indian squad led by Arun Ghosh. In 1981, he was a major figure in Mohammedan Sporting’s CFL victory. Chatterjee also played four times for Bengal in the Santosh Trophy, with the team winning three times.
16. Gerd Mueller, a German football icon, has died.
- Gerd Mueller, dubbed “Bomber der Nation” by his old team Bayern Munich, has died at the age of 75. He was largely recognised as one of the game’s greatest goal scorers.
- Mueller scored 68 goals in 62 international matches for West Germany, winning the World Cup in 1974, and is third all-time in the competition with 14 goals, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo (15) and Miroslav Klose (14). (16).
