1. India was re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council for a fresh three-year term, running from 2022 to 2024.
- On October 14, 2021, India was re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for a sixth term with an overwhelming majority.
- India’s new three-year term will begin in January 2022 and end in December 2024.
2. India and Russia have signed a memorandum of understanding for the delivery of di-ammonium phosphate fertiliser.
- To stabilise DAP fertiliser costs and lessen reliance on nations such as Jordan, Morocco, and China, India signed a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russia on DAP fertiliser supplies.
- The government has boosted the DAP fertiliser subsidy to 140 percent in order to keep the selling price for farmers at the present level.
3. The anthem for India’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign has been released.
- The anthem on India’s Covid 19 immunisation was released by Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
- Padma Shri Kailash kher, a famous singer, sang the song, which was developed by the Oil & Gas PSUs.
4. Kerala Rail announces a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for rail safety technology.
- Kerala Train and L2MRail, an IISc-incubated firm, the Society for Innovation and Development (SID), and IISc have signed an MoU targeted at improving rail safety, particularly in risky terrains.
- The Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensing technology was pioneered by the L2MRail team and IISc for a structural health monitoring system (SHMS) for the civil engineering structures of Kerala Rail’s Silverline project.

5. In the Sea of Japan, China and Russia conduct a naval drill dubbed “Joint Sea 2021.”
- On October 14, 2021, the China-Russia joint naval drills “Joint Sea 2021” began at Russia’s Peter the Great Gulf, in the Sea of Japan.
- On October 17, 2021, the drills will come to a close.

6. For currency transfers, Vested Finance has partnered with SBM Bank.
- For enabling forex transfers, Vested Finance, a platform for Indians to invest in international stocks, has partnered with SBM Bank, the Indian subsidiary of State Bank of Mauritius.
- SBM Bank will allow vested users to register accounts and make low-cost international transfers.
7. Sri Lanka is seeking a USD 500 million loan from India to help with fuel purchases.
- In the midst of a severe foreign exchange crisis, Sri Lanka has requested a USD 500 million credit line from India to pay for its crude oil purchases.
- The action occurred only days after Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila warned that the country’s existing fuel supply could only last until January of next year.

- Chaudhry’s second three-year term will begin on January 1, 2022.
9. Karnataka Bank’s Chairman, Pradeep Kumar Panja, has been appointed.
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved Pradeep Kumar Panja’s appointment as the Chairman of Karnataka Bank Ltd.
- Pradeep Kumar Panja will start serving as the part-time non-executive Chairman on November 14, 2021, for a three-year term.
10. As Chairperson of the IBBI, Navrang Saini will have new responsibilities.
- Navrang Saini has been named interim Chairperson of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) for a term of three months, or until a new incumbent is nominated, or until further orders are issued.
- Mr. Saini, who is a Full Member of IBBI, has been given the additional responsibility of Chairperson in addition to his other responsibilities.

11. The Chennai Super Kings will be the IPL champion in 2021.
- The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2021 by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the finals.
